I think two planes for the arly years set we need to add are the
I-16
DW-520
Another interesting would be the Romanian I-80 (I think thats the designation) it was a fairly impressive raidal engine fighter.

it's IAR 80...so you basically want "rare" planes that became obsolete by 1942-43 because of obvious design limitations(I 16) or because the countries that developed them lacked the possibilities-for instance France was occupied, while Romania was using German Me 109s. The IAR-80 was developed as a fighter bomber and interceptor in IAR-81,so it would be a good plane to be added, but I doubt there is much info on its flight model to make it realistic enough.

Plus if we add one Romanian plane, someone will be in here within minutes advocating an expansion of the Romanian planeset for more equal representation. :rolleyes:

lol...that is the only Romanian-designed plane of WW2.besides that they were using a lot of German planes,Italian and some French I think.Plus whatever the Germans captured and wanted to get rid of :)

I would like to see these planes as they were decent aircraft that were used in the early and middle years of the war. They were no late war monsters (like the LA7, P51D, or Fw190D) but were capable aircraft that have been rarely if ever modeled.
As for rare I am willing to bet that enough I-16 were produced to allow it not to be considered a rare aircraft.
I will admit these planes may not be all stars in the main arena, but for scenarios, or combat theatre we need more variety and the flexibilty to create more acurate matchups adding these planes would help both the Battle of France, and Russian Fronts.
I could even see adding the D520 in both German and French colors as it was used by the Germans in Large numbers after the fall of France in training and a few combat units. All reports show the plane to have been an even match for the Spitfire I, and Me109e models that flew in the same time period.
In any case its fun to talk about what we would like to see, and you both have some valid points on why these planes should not be modled.

Creating a plane probably costs a lot in terms of man-hours of gathering documentation and programming the flight model and the graphics.

Just for the record, my point was totally invalid. I was just kidding about growing the Romanian planeset
