When 1.09 came out, I set up my MIC per the instructions. I can record with it just fine. However, I cannot transmit whatsoever. I've tried the prescribed method of .radio 5 Widewing, but nothing.
I'm running a Dell 4300 with 1.7 gig P4, 512 meg RAM, with NVidia GForce 3 video card.
What should I try next?
My regards,

Check the simple stuff first. My problem was that T and F12 were NOT keymapped.
In keymapping make sure Mic Channel and Mic Range are set to T and F12 respectively.
hope it works,

Yes do the above but also in windows double click on the speaker in your system tray. Make sure there is a mic there and that it is muted. Then click on options and propterties. Put the dot in the recording and click ok. Now make sure that the mic volume is turned up and that you have a check in the box that says select. Go into Aces high, in the text buffer type .radio 5 yourgameid Hold down your transmit key and talk into the mic. If you hear yourslef through the speakers you are working.

It was a key mapping problem. Voice is now working just fine. Thanks for the help guys.

I am also unable to use my mic. I've tried all of this and it does not work. My squad can see that I've keyed my transmit button (F12) but they do not hear anything.
I've tried transmitting just to myself as you described.. All I hear is the "beep".
When I do not have the mic muted in the volume control I hear myself through my speakers loud and clear.
Any other Ideas?

Could this be a full/half duplex thing? [reaching for straws on this]
[now for the funny stuff]
Try a different toilet or the Penguins away jersey.

Okay, you know about the toilet and the jersey... So you've obviouslly clicked on my website. Now think about the type of person who would post this. To put it another way... alk slow Tand use simple words. What do you mean by, "Full/half duplex thing"?

Some sound cards have a setting for operation in full or half duplex, ie send or receive. I know I had a setting like that on my older system, with Win95, but I haven't been able to find that setting on my newer computer running Win98se. It may be related to the type of sound card that is used.
Also, I'm not sure of the exact operation OF that setting. It maybe that you can only do one at a time, or do one but not the other.
Again, it was a far reaching guess. I remember that topic coming up when trying to setup vox in AW.
Try, and I'm almost positive you already have, redoing the whole setup routine just to make sure all is setup correct.
The first thing we need to do is make sure you can transmist to yourself when selftuned.

Double click on the speaker icon in the bottom right hand corner, your system tray.
Make sure that the mic is muted.
Then click on options and properties.
Put the dot in recording and click ok.
Make sure that the mic is turned all the way up and
that the box in the bottom labeled select has a check in it.
Launch aces high and try it again.

Tried all of that.. again... I can hear the "blip" when I hit the transmit key (F12) but nothing else.

I have the same problem and symptom as goaly. Hear the beep but no transmit.
My sound card is a Montegro II if that makes a difference in this case.

Could be your packet going back to AH, I just found that with mine.

SUCCESS!!!.... I think.
I went diving into the control panel and settings and found the "half duplex" and turned it off. I can now hear myself. But, it's on about a second delay... is this normal?
Thanks for all the help!
-
Goaly, when I selftune and transmit I get my reply back faster than one second. I would say even less than 1/4 second.
I connect to AH @40000bps. I don't know it this would be related to computer speed or the internet connection and net lags.
[Time for my wise arse comment.]
Just think ahead 2 seconds, that way your voice coms will be 1second ahead.
OH Shaddup fuze!!!
I'm glad we made some progress tho. Where exactly did you find that Full/Half duplex setting in case it relates to others headdaches. I'd also like to see if I have that setting, even tho my voice coms are good.

Okay Fuze.. thanks again for the help. Here is the path that I took to fix the problem.
Control panel ----> Sounds and Multimedia Devices---> Audio Devices---> Audio For Unimodem Half Duplex Wave Device. I then clicked on, "Do not use audio features on this device." ... I hope this makes sense.
My comp. is a six month old Gateway, so others may find this in thier newer systems too. Right now I have a love/hate relationship with this thing.
By the way... if you liked my hompage, here is a virtual Holiday card that I put together for my squad, "The Knights Who Say, "Ni"" a few years ago when we played in Air Warrior.. I just never took it down.

Thanks again!

:D Great card!!!!
I did ask in the MA about the 1 second delay and SKurj said it was probably neglag and stuff like that and nothing to do with computer speed as I guessed in my earlier post.
Glad it's working.
