So far, ben testing it offline, and love it
Buttons are spread outfurther than I am used to with the old MS Sidewinder, but I have POV hat views and a RUDDER now. Yeah!
So what do you guys map to all these buttons? And that button under the safe cap?
Ideas?
Im trying to figure out how to map stuff like the index finger button on the throttle to WEP, etc....suggestions appreciated...so far, this is a nice stick!

basic X45 profile (http://www.pogbird.com/ACESHIGH_X45.zip)
My button under the cap is my engine on/off.
Use the pinkie shifter as my wep as I do not program using it as a shift. (You can pop out the curly cue thing is your right hand is tight)
Rotors are trim and rudder is on CH peds.
Map is lighted thumb button on throttle.
flaps are A & B
top hat zoom - on/off - in/out
bottom hat views, all but FR and FL - they are on throttle front oval hat - left/right ...
... very basic as I do not even use the shift mode 1 - 3 levels :)

I have lot of buttons programmed to stick. In fact, I can pretty much fly without using the Keyboard now. The button under the safe cap I have set to switch between Set 1 & Set 2 of the stick. I use Set 2 pretty much for landing activities such as gear toggle, brakes (all, right & left).

So far, its been a great stick under Windows 2000 Professional
Im not use to moving my hands so much, the buttons on the MS Sidewinder were all nice and close together...
Im using the safety button as my Fire Secondary (bombs, etc). The pinkie is my toggle for weapons.
On the thruster, I have the index finger button the WEP, "D" my VOX/Mic transmit and left the rudders as they are. The controls are stiff and sliding around the desk, but Im told that will cure itself in time (though Im tempted to buy a desk that puts these controls more below the desk than at keyboard level). I'm using the mouse fire button as the brakes and the up mouse for the clipboard.
I havent even begun to play with the M2 and M3 modes yet!

Hey BD5...I also found the controls stiff & have learned to Love it that way. One thing you might try to avoid them moving around is using velcro to hold em in place. Works wonders for me. Just a thought.

Ah, good idea, although Im a little reluctant to stick anything on such a nice controller ;) C-clamps, maybe? hehe

For mounting, there are four slotted screw holes in the bottom of each controller, So I mounted 1- 10" x 10" x 5/8" plywood 'mounting plate' on each arm of my chair.
then added 4 pan head screws to each one [to match layout on the controller base], and left about 3/16" sticking up so they'd fit into the slots. Works like a champ, and at just the right height too!
If you choose to go the velcro route, That works also, But don't scrimp on the stuff, or you'll pull yer stick off in heavy combat :)
If you're worried about using velcro etc. "on such a nice stick", No prob. You can get the self adhesive kind from office max, and when you're done, it comes off fairly easy w/no marring.
And the optional suction cups.... Don't .

Wow, I kinda like the armchair Idea. I might have to give that one a try.

Yeah, It's definately the "Bee's Knees" hehe. I found a used hi back leather chair for $10 at a thrift shop, that was never a 'top o the line' anyway, it became a prime candidate for a few screw holes.
Granted, With a little bit of planning, and some trick clampage, even a 'Nice chair' can be set up this way.
But for me.. "Form, follows Function", anyway :D

OH!!!
I almost forgot... I just noticed that the stick handle is starting to 'rock' a little bit on the shaft. Apparently the shaft doesnt go as deep into the handle as the X36 did. (It certainly doesn't have as many screws in the grip!) [it's 3 months old]
