I've been hearing scattered mutterings that HT et al have been talking about some of the new features while in the arena. Not much in the way of official postings by HTC on it though. So far, all I know is that there will be a mission planner and new effects.

Since it's close to release date, I figure it's about time to once again enter into the AH crack junky release anticipation phase. Feed my itch. Post yer info here.

From what I recall (correct me if I'm wrong)

Vehicles:
---------
-m3 troop carrier
-panzer IV - top mg, cannon recoil (tank rocks when firing), visibile moving turret

Planes:
-------
-a6m5b(zero), yak9, fw190a5 (see screenshots)

Special Effects:
----------------
-smoke/fire for destroyed buildings, smoke
is supposed to be quite impressive
-special explosion graphics for planes
-sun glare (just read this, hopefully in)
-more objects for hiding tanks in? (rumour)
-new/better clouds (clouds look different in screenshots)

Misc:
-----
-mission Planner *drooool*
-terrain editor (probably after 1.03)
-hispanos going to be fixed (rumour)

That's all I can think of right now.

Prop drag was promised for 1.03 in a magazine article (either CGW or CGO).

Icon changes: No vehicle to vehicle icons.  Plane to ground icons reduced to 1.5k.

Vehicles:  Changes made to gunsight.

Sounds:  More sounds will be added.

There will be a new pilot included in 1.03 or perhaps even a little before. It's called fats Mk.II and will kill you EZ, can't wait for all the ubermodeled comments to start rolling in.

I think I remember the Lancaster being included if they can 'squeeze' it in, though more likely to follow in later version.

Smoke shells for Tanks, (I asked for cloud deck for cover, no dice.) But even smoke will help.

New gunsight for tanks, sounds like we will be getting a very close simulation of the original Panzer 4 sight.

Can't come soon enough for me.

Does this mean we're gonna see birds having windmilling props when the engine dies (Corsair couldna feather prop, it just windmilled, if I'm remembering correctly)
That would make those dweebC drivers even more concious about fuel since they couldna glide as far =)

I think the Corsair had an engine-oil prop, i.e. hydraulic pressure was supplied by the engine oil pump.  So if you lost oil pressure in the engine you would lose prop control.

However if the engine somehow died without losing oil pressure, I'm pretty sure the windmilling would result in enough RPM to generate sufficient oil pressure for the prop governor.

And don't forget the 109 and 190 had electric props.  So if you lost electric power you were S.O.L.

Pitch trim on the 190 was also electric.  Gear was electric too, but I think there was a manual override.  In any case 190 pilots preferred to do dead stick landings with the gear up.  It seems the plane was easier to land with no landing gear.

Icons for ground vehicles may change.

No enemy icons at all, friendly icons at 1.5k or less.

I'll just add what was mentioned on a couple of other threads. The possibility of sun effects and integrated voice com making it into this version.
