One thing I would like to cover here is the implememtation of contrails :) to aircraft that are at hi alt! This would be awesome to see in gameplay and it would make it easier to spot hi alt enemies. The other thing I want to cover is Proximity kills! :mad: They absolutely SUCK! If you dont hit anyone you shouldnt get credit for a kill plain and simple! This takes away from the overall realism of the game. I hope someone from HiTech reads this and gets their head outta their tulips :eek: and does something about it! Lose the Proxy Kills and give us contrails!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Contrails? This seems like something to get worked up over? Maybe the frame rate would take a big hit. I know when I fly by a burning field things slow up abit. I am not real excited about this happening when I am trying to gun down a bomber. Just my thought on that.
I like the proximity kill. I kinda figure its in there for the manuever kill. If I am raceing through the canyons with a bogie fat on my 6, and he ploughs into a wall, I kinda think I had something to do with it. So, in this case I think HiTech oughta keep there heads up there prettythanges, but then again, just my thoughts on that.:)

IIRC, a few kills were awarded during the war to pilots that literally "flew their opponent into the ground".
Too tired now to go looking for them though.

Ok, fly your opponent into the ground anf get the kill, but at least ping it once.
I bet that actually, most of the prox kills are awarded to people that never saw the falling enemy.

OK, while Raptor is taking a deep breath, he does have a good point about the Proxy kills. Not that they shouldn't be there, but it should be more along the lines of what you are talking about, a maneuvre kill.
At the moment, the kill attribution does some pretty strange thing. Case in point: last night I was trying to clean a bandit of my squaddie's six when the guy abruptly reverses and comes back at me. I reflex shoot and try to evade: he disintegrates, but he blows my wing off. Then I saw the kill go to someone else who just happened to be in the vicinity when he officially bailed.

I think kill attribution actually works better in Warbirds. You kill each other, it's a mutual kill. You fly someone into the ground, it's a maneuvre kill. You get nailed by AI flak, it's a system kill. You fly into the control tower on take-off, it's no one's kill.

History has shown that this is the best way to get HiTech to do what you want.
