Title: Aiming for the soft spot.

What's the best place to aim when your attacking a bomber? Wing. Engine...etc..? And do you need to change aiming points with different types of armament? 20mm, .50cal,.303?

My last three bomber kills have been against Lancs from 1200 yards dead aft, zero deflection.  At that range I just aim for the center of mass.  I actually practice zero-deflection shots out to about 1000 yards offline; given the dispersion there's not much point in aiming for a particular area.

Up close and personal I aim for wing roots.

Of course, when it comes to flying I am the Ace of Suck, so YMMV.  For that matter MMMV  :D

Yep, but if you want a slightly larger target to aim for , wingroot, I've focused shots on wingroots and had wingtips fall off (shortly followed by the wing itself ;) )

I personally aim for the cockpit.  Just me though, maybe.

If I am forced to make an approach other than my normal 1 or 11 OC high pass, I'll come from underneath and aim for the engines.

cockpit, wingroots/inner engines on lancs

wingtips on 17

If attacking from 2 oclockish i just rake the whole side, possibly getting pilot or startin a fire in one of the inner engines.  I don't adjust aim as I pass.  I just keep my speed for the next pass.

Wingtips, for sure.

Many an expert fighter pilot has creamed my Lancaster with very little ammunition by striking from above, and fast, and dinging the wing tip with a few shots.  There's no way a buff can make it back, and once the spin starts, all you can do is bail out and pass along a .

Wingroots are good targets too, but those seem to require more hits, and I've made it back with all kinds of damage to the fuselage before.

If you are looking for the secret to using as little ammo as possible with the best results, as mentioned, wingtips.
