Post by: phentop on April 01, 2002, 03:32:57 PM
Do I have to turn off combat to have controll over my flaps?
I try to change them in flight to slow or manuver and they

Combat Trim has nothing to do with your flaps.  What controls the flaps are the keys q and w.  What controls whether or not you may drop your flaps is the speed of your aircraft.

The P51 for example will allow you to use flaps utpo about 300mph, these are called combat flaps.  Planes like the 190, 109, La5, La7, Yak have flaps, but cannot be dropped until about 150-180.

SO you arent doing anything wrong, but I suspect you are just going to fast to get the flaps down.

The one thing I would like to see, is if you were able to lower your flaps at a lower speed, and forget to raise them, they shouldn't automatically be raised once you exceed a certain speed.  You should receive damage for being forgetful, imo.

:D

most plane flaps will "blow up" (aka retract by sheer force of the air passing through them)... but some plane's flaps *cough* just cant and didnt do that.
