I think we do. A Post in other thread opened up my eyes. I think we have a not-so-diverse MA nowadays. There are planes that are gathering dust in the hangars and hardly seen in flight....F4U-4, Ta-152, C.202, ...you name them.
I like the Perk system, but IMHO, time has come to make some fine tuning.
From my point of view, the most important and "urgent" thing to do is make a regular review of perk points. I would say weekly. This single thing would make Perk system a really dynamic way of balancing plane usage.
Use a "reference" usage table (published by Htc., for instance %Kills over Total Kills) and try to fit plane usage to this reference by changing perks and eny values. Then that "reference" could be reviewed namely monthly or so, if results are not pleasant.
Resuming, I think Perk system deserves a more dynamic and careful management.

The most frequently used aircraft have been and are still amongst the lowest ENY value aircraft. The less frequent are the higher ENY value aircraft.
What makes you think ENY would matter all of the sudden? It hasn't in the past.

Give 40 ENY to the SpitIX, but perk it for 5 points and lets see if arena balance changes ...

if revising the "perk" system means making the planeset even more lat wart centric and the arena even less (if that's possible) of a viable place for early war planes then.... No.... We don't.
Start perking more planes at the top of the food chain and you will drive everyone to mid war. Still no help for early war planes... sure.... you will see more early war planes but it won't make em any harder to slaughter or fun to fly.
I believe the perk system has painted itself into a corner unless everquest is what you are after in a flight sim.

Lazs, what is your problem with 44 planes? Why 1942 planes are funnier? Just cant get it. If speed is your problem, you will only solve that with an almost month (not year) oriented RPS.
A SpitI driver will whine about the speed of a 109E, the 109E will whine about the speed of a SpitIX, the SpitIX will whine about the speed of a 109G6, the G6 will whine about the speed of a P47, the P47 about G10, etc. I see no real differences between a duel SpitI vs 109E and Typh vs G10. Do u want all of us flying only BoB planes???

Ah.. so this is simply about perking more aircraft... and not really revamping anything.

mandoble.. got no problem with 44 planes. I fly a late 43 plane as it is but.... I would love to see early war planes have fun too. I would love to fly some of em. the perk system will never allow that so it is useless and needs to be abandoned not revamped. It was ok when all the planes were mid war and only a few uber planes "needed" to be added (for gawd only knows what reason).
