I read someplace that pre ww2, USA's military was ranked 37th in the world??? Is  this true?

How do you rank them. How do you compare. Its like you asking me if Kansas was ranked 20th but not tellling me if i should take in strength of schedule, home field advantage, etc. Please be clearier. Are you ranking on size. I doubt even with a low funded military we were and are a large country. Equipment. Maybe so but i doubt it. I can tell you right now i cant think of 36 countries that could possibly be stronger. I did see some graph comparing pre war and post war gnps and stuff. Before the war the USA had like 20% of the worlds GNP after the was it had like I think it was 52.1% or maybe and more likly than lower it was higher (did that make since, I thought not).

I wonder how much of that gdp increase came courtesy of Britian and the empire, talk about make a buck out of a guy who's down :D
