Ever had a night where everything that can go wrong...does?
I'm waiting on the locksmith to get my keys out of the car as we speak. Everything started to go wrong last night. My wife gives me a call around 11pm that she has ran out of gas 3 blocks from the house, and could I please pick her up. I throw on my shoes and coat and start heading to the door patting my pockets as I go. Hmmmm...no keys. Look inside the car, and there they sit on the seat. DOH! Thats a hard phone call to make back at the the wife. Neighbor on the left of me are fantastic people. We watch each others house when on vacation. After several beating on the door, I finally realised that I will be heading to the unknown neighbor on the right. The burbs...weird folk. 2 daughters in their 40s that still live with dad. I throw on the charm, and give them a quick introduction and a rundown of the event. One of the daughters, says I'll take you. Fantastic! I get in her car, and she has 10 of these dolls hanging from suction cups from the windshield. These dolls are all looking at me with these little smirks on their faces. After a couple of minutes of the strangest conversation I have had. I have come to the conclussion that I am not on the way to save my wife, but Im this ladies soon to be 11th murder and she will have another doll, that looks like me, hanging from her windshield. Well, I lived. Got the wife, thanked the very nice weird people, and told my wife happy anniversary.
4 years yesterday.
I just can't have a bad time in Aces High.

Yeah Apache warping was particularly bad the last couple nights, I tried flying the LA's last night and the warping was bad, very difficult to put cannons on a warpy plane.
So I took up the trusted F4U-1D and had a ball.
Hopefully HTC will fix the connects soon.

My first kill in the arena last night was a 190D9 that got in front of my 51D (first hop in the 51 in some time). He flippity-floppitied, and looked for a while like he might escape. I was ok with it though, because I knew as long as he kept flipping he had to die- I was actually more afraid he might try to run (he would have escaped then).
Last night was actually the most MA fun I've had in a while. The AK's were after our port and sent their boys over a few times. We didn't have massive furballs, just nice, more-or-less even fights. Died some, killed some, left happy.

Lazs:
I don't see any inconsistency between "likes drex" and "wants to add him to her collection".

Strange, last night was one of my better nights in a long time. First run flew a La5FN into a low alt running fight, came out with 6 or 7 kills... got set on fire by a F6F, wing blew off had to bail out. 15.63perks for that.
Next flight, only got 1 kill but my gas tank was hit so I was happy with the one kill before I had to run away and ditch. 4perks.
That was it, but it was still one of my better nights.
Whenever I have one of those bad nights, I just cut my losses and go play another game... either OFP, RTWC, or Il-2.
Saves me frustrations over a silly game I don't need. ;)

Drex, Hooligan, Lazs. Man those names are familiar. Do they still fly here? :D
Roger that SW. When I have nights like this, I just do the 1 finger wave and go to bed, lol.

Happy anniversary Drex!

Yeah. Last night started out like it would be "one of those nights".
I logged on and saw a fight brewing over at A5, so I upped a SpitXIV and head over that way. Cruising towards A5 I get distracted with a mic problem. Finally I look up and see a sky full of Bish. Had to be at least 15 of them, and all at or just below my alt. Uh oh, better do that old dissappearing act again... Too late, they spot that SpitXIV icon and come 'a runnin'. Thankfully, the Mk.XIV is a beast, so I carefully reverse (gotta preserve that E), push my throttle into WEP detent and hit autoclimb. Bye bye Bish.
Later, I get involved in several fights at different locations. I had two fighters killed by miracle flak hits at alts up to 18k. Seems as if HTC cranked up the ack lethality for this tour. I collide with wreckage twice, both times my FE showed me clear, but obviously not (I like to get REAL close). I had an Osty blasted by a Lanc before I could get out of the VH. I suffer a ground collision by being overly aggressive (yet again). A mid-air collision adds to my misery. Lastly, I get in a big fight over A5, kill two Bish but get hit by an M16. Wounded, I'm in the middle of a furball and blacking out. Finally someone takes advantage of the blackouts and kills my SpitIX (Busher, I believe). That annoys me because it was my first air to air loss so far this tour. There are other losses assigned to enemy aircraft, but every one is a proximity kill, being the result of ack or a collision with trees, hangers and the like. That's why I hate the proximity system. It distorts the record.
A bit later, I took a Seafire to 32 and knocked off three Knits. Back to 22 and killed seven Bish plus 5 assists in my Seafire, and another kill with two assists in a Hellcat.
All in all, it turned out to be a decent evening despite the shakey beginning. So far this tour, I'm 32/1 with 24 assists in air to air combat, 60/14 overall.
Here's an example of how things can go from real good to real bad in no time. Last evening Fester won the Wild Wednesday shootout. No small accomplishment. Shortly after this, he goes to the MA. I had a Osty up defending an airfield when a Corsair (F4U-1) races across the field in an effort to shake a Rook in hot pursuit. It passes right over my Osty and I blow its tail off. The message buffer declares: "You shot down Fester."
Even the very best need a little luck now and then. The rest of us need luck AND a few guardian angels...:D
My regards,
Widewing

Oh, yeah? What'd the buffer say after that? ;)
