Does any body else think that the first page should not be a thousand words of text? Lets have a picture there! How about a snapshot of the map replaced every 20 min or so...
I dont know it just seems like the first thing that new people should see should excite or interest them...grab them a little.

Maybe. But I subscribe to the theory that web pages are intended to inform primarily, and that all the flash and glitter is to enhance, not replace, the information. For that reason a clear, informative site is more useful IMHO than one that has many neato gizmos running, but doesn't really function usefully.
If I want a quick page up to get info out, I will put up something dirty and quick. If I want to take more time and make a site something more attractive, then I do.
Ronni has made IMHO a site that gets their information out in an easily accessible format. For that reason the site is "good" in my eyes.
You are right to say that a site can be made more interesting, no question. Can it be more functional and informative is the real measuring stick, however.

hehehe Funked. I spend less than a quarter of my time on the web page and the rest of my time I'm coding. I agree, it could be jazzed up some, but the coding projects take priority.

Well Heck,
I think the home page is great! It loads fast and you can get to where you want to go in seconds.
I'm thankful I don't have to wait for a banner like, "Hair Club for Men" to load first. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

No, Ronni, I think I typed wrong. I like the WWW page. I LIKE the fact that you spend more time on game related stuff. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Perfect plans, aren't.

Pyro,
Please don't make the front page too cluttered or slow to load. Right now, it pops right up over a 56k modem connect, and that's very nice. Most sites go way overkill on their front pages and they take far too long to load. Keep the front page fairly simple and inviting, then clutter the pages up in the next layer.
I almost never let web site front pages fully load, they just take too darn long. As soon as the link I want is visible, I click through. If it takes too long, I go somewhere else that is more friendly to view.
IMHO.

Yawn..
I hope that someone can see that there is a big difference between a huge blob of text that will turn off some potential players, and some slow loading, over complex, self serving web hog.
Somewhere in that middle ground is an easy engancement to the AH home page. That page is HTCs front door to the world.
They dont advertise,
they dont appear in any aritcles.(or very few)
It should be better than it was 7 months ago.
All of you who think the effort?(3 hrs) would not be worth it financialy to HTC are not thinking very clear.
How many of you stop to look at it...They could have written death threats to the president on there 5 months ago and no one would know.
Its worth doing with a bit of thought.
I wont play the game any more unless they enhance the front page!
well only with one hand anyway.
nuff said. not intending to hurt anybodys feelings. if your friends cant tell ya who can...

I have to say that the homesite of HTC is very good. It is easy to find what you are lookin for and "clean". Put a lot of fancy stuff there and the site wouldŽnt be breathin "seriuosness" as it does today!
And you dont need to "add" out a good product, really, mouth to mouth is enough.
We are all ambassadors for HTC when new guys show up at the arena. Lets take care of em and help them out as much as possible.
This community really ROCKS!!

Other than that .. I agree. I like the home page as it is (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).
Pongo, no need to yawn (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif), some people like pictures, and some like words, and I like the spiel on page one.
Cheers

Well, as one who has the oppertunity to design sites and has had to spend a lot of time understanding the physcological impact a WEB site should have, I have to say that the HTC WEB is dead on.
This is not a game, this piece of software has crossed the line from the generic, blow them out of the sky game, and successfully made the transition to being a full fledged sim. It is a serious piece of work.
The colors and design of the home page drive this point home.
This does not mean all people will like it, but then again, it is impossible to design a WEB site that everyone will like. It mostly has to do with the viewers perspective.
If I was designing this site, I would have to tell myself, "I need it to look good, but serious and because I know it will set the expectations for the sim, I need to make sure I do not go overboard."
I think Ronni has done an outstanding job of attaining that balance while providing a very easy to navigate site, which has ample information on it.
Pongo, I respect your opinion, and also know it would be impossible for any site designer to create a site which everyone would like.
Whether you know it or not, the site does set some physcological expectations for the product HTC is offering. Here, Ronni has done one bang up job.
When you hear people in the sim saying "WOW", "AWESOME" and such, it is because their expectations were a bit lower due to the site. This is good, very good marketing.
Never raise a consumers expectations past the point of what you can deliver or you will fail.

Don't feel bad Yankee (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) You are after all a "Princess". It is true however that Ronni is a "Goddess"!
Just look at all she does, designs web pages,
(Most excellently btw), Answers the phone, (with a light & cheerfull tone). She FIXES THINGS!!!!!, writes quick, information filled emails that lift your mood and make your day. To top it off this wonderfull gem CODES! (heard her say it myself, "Bye, I have to get back to codeing")
Keep the website as it is, it's perfect!
Ohhh & now that I have made Ronni Blush (#2?)
better get her back to work!
