"Bullets cause injuries that are expensive to treat and generally speaking, the public is footing the bill,''

Not my bullets, dude!  And I pay for my own health care.
Tax THIS Perata!

"Their potential for assassination ...and some other stuff ...save the children, the pygmy screech weasel, saber-tooth turkey ...end hunger and racial profiling ...for a more "sustainable" society and the good of doctors and politicians everywhere"

This was discussed on a national level about 10 years ago.
The idea was to get an ammo tax established then run the rate through the roof to the point where a single bullet would cost hundreds of dollars.  Effectively getting rid of the right to bear arms by making them useless without ammo, as the market would get so bad that it wouldn’t be profitable to make ammo (they also talked of taxing primers for those of us who ‘roll your own’)

At the time the congressman who proposed it said he'd found a loophole that would allow him to 'go around the second amendment'

My personal opinion is any gov't official that tries to find ways to subvert the constitution should be hung for treason

First of all, controlling guns may or may not be subverting the 2nd amendment. That is still debatable, but that has been done here.

OTOH - If we taxed each bullet that caused injury the nickle proposed in the tax, that would result in a grand total of $478.10 in the state of California.  (1994 figures for gunshot injuries) I don't think this is the way to fund trauma care centers.

Yeah SOB blah blah.
At least our women have less body hair than we do.
And we have more interesting things to do than observing the mating habits of beavers.  Enjoy your Godforsaken tick-infested Northern wasteland.

So, you're anti-beaver then?  I understand that you're envious of the beautiful scenery up here and the lack of smog, but don't take it out on the beaver, man.  Just enjoy your Godforsaken liberal-infested Southern wasteland.
