Title: Hairball's sick
Post by: Hangtime on April 19, 2000, 05:57:00 PM
Sorry I got off line in such a hurry Sunday evening, and I ain't been back online since...

Hairball climbed up in my lap while I was flyin a buff run and fixed me with a searching gaze. I told her ta get back on the turrent where she belonged but she let out a soul wrenching yowl; and proceeded to pee blood all over my legs. Needless to say, she got my complete and undivided attention as well as that of the best vet on the island within a few minutes thereafter.

Poor critter has a urinary tract infection and is definitly under the weather. Vet put her on antibiotics, and I have her home again now, and the vet says she should be improving by the weekened. For now; we're  outta action till she's feelin better.

We'll both be seein ya real soon, I hope.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I am astounded. I've been recieving a torrent of 'get well soon' cards and wishes from our fellow pilots here via email.

Hairball thanks you all... as do I.

I never in my life expected to become attached to a damn cat; I've always had a dog. By a strange twist of fate, I wound up with custody of Hairball after the divorce. The wife got the dog. I didn't object too loudly since the dog likes to lick my ex's feet. Kinda lost respect fer the mutt after watching that.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Hairball; on the other hand, had to put up with my daughter; and all the abuse that went with being the subject of her attentions over the past 11 years. The miserable critter kept it's aloof attitude and managed to win out in the end... livin with me she's been gettin her meals regular and hasn't seen a set of electric clippers for a coupla years now. (I got her outta there just before she was targeted for an ear-piercing and hair-dye job)

I've explined to my kid on numerous occasions that God reserves a special place in Hell for those that willfully harm, torment or abuse animals for their own entertainment... I dunno if it ever sank in. The kid just doesn't understand WHY the cat would NOT want an earring or green fur.

Despite my reports to the contrary, Hairball has never suffered a moments indignity while here. She DOES like ta watch me fly; and is usually perched on the desk, observing solemly while we do our thing. I can't wait till she's well enuff ta rip the hell outta my leg as usual while enroute to her favorite perch.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Anyhow.. I digress. Nuff ta say that we appreciate your kind thoughts, and I'll keep ya posted on her progress.

I've always enjoyed the jokes about and from hairball ... hope she gets better soon.

Cougar (a 12 year old, redhaired king of the street   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)) likes watching me too (at least that what I thought cause he was always sitting up looking attentively... in fact he was watching my hand on the joystick moving and found the incredible delight in jumping on it one day paws wide open... he then gave me a very royal surprised look when I didn't approve (hand bleeding)   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/tongue.gif))

I hope hairball gets better soon, she's part of the community   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Seeya up soon hangtime

I can relate Hangtime.

When my fiancee moved in, she brought her 3 cats (go figure..).

I have always been more of a dog person myself as well, but the little kitties grow on you, and they are a very intelligent, affectionate, and most of all, entertaining animal.  The one that sits on my monitor while I fly I've taught to turn on the touch lamps in the house by herself, much to the shagrin of the wife who pays the power bill..tee hee, revenge is sweet!

Anyhow, I hope Hairball is A-OK, and I'm sure he/she will be, as one of our cats had a similar condition last year, and she came out of it fine in under a week.

Hang As a owner of three dogs I know how you feel. My latest puppy is now 100lbs full blooded German Shepard. He is 17 months old and been to the vet four times already. He had what was simply called growing pains (bones grew slower in spots and are very pain full) he would limp around or not even put weight on the leg at all scared me to death he attached to me instantly and has never let go. When me and the wife get in a fight hes always there at night to give me a hug. Yes I mean he gives me a hug. So tell Hairball to hag in there from all of us.

Hang in there Hairball!  You too Hang.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Like a number of others who wish you well, A year ago I would have called myself a dog only person.  The Cat's were my wife's domain. and I was happy to have it that way.  Then we rescued a little black kitten from a store parking lot. He wound up named Warloc (although he goes by the nickname of HEY! GET OFF THERE!). The special way he has won over not only me, but both of two dogs has made him a valued pack member as far as all of us are concerned.  So from Teresa and I, Wondermutt, Teela, and Warloc, Please convey our best wishes to Hairball for a speedy recovery.

My squad leader, Whitey, has a Parrot that sits on top of his monitor and watches the screen from an inverted viewpoint.  The bird has learned to recognize the sights and sounds of an aircraft in distress, and manages to screech "Oh toejam!" a second before Whitey does!

Yeah they grow on ya like a bad fungus and could possibly be one of the most evil yet intelligent animals on the face of the planet.  No other animal I know (humans included) take such evil pleasure in knowing that I will soon recoil in revulsion as I stick my bare little toe-sies into shoes filled with cat-poop.  Think that damned cat is still snickering to this day.  GRRRRR!!!

Im a dog-lover cat-hater....'cept for Hairball...any friend of Hangs is a friend of mine....just keep that critter away from my shoes  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Hiya Hangtime,

Sorry I'm late (as usual).  Our 2 month old son seems to demand a lot of our attention  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

My wife and I have 2 cats, 1 dog and 1 son, but not necessarily in that order.  I grew up with many pets, and even after leaving home had a pet rabbit for 8 years named Chingis Haan.  I still cringe when I remember the time Chingis had a bladder condition that was crystalizing his urine.  It was torture watching him try to urinate.  I took him to the vet immediately, and had to take him again at a latter point when he was really starting to slide away from me.  Finally, I was desperately force feeding him his medicine, praying for him to live.  Then, one morning I woke up, and there he was hopping around happily, doing that funny leap-twist that rabbits like to do when they're feeling pretty fine.  Chingis even came over and licked me.  I was never so happy in my life.

For me, personally, an animal I take into my home is a companion, not a pet.  I value them above such things as money, and never let such a base thing get in the way of their care.  It's a responsibility that results in a lot of joy and love for all concerned.

I wish Hairball a quick and painless recovery!

Take care  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)
