There are a number of good, inexpensive references on RAAF Bostons. The best of these is:
Boston, Mitchell and Liberator in Australian Service by Stewart Wilson, Aerospace Publications, Canberra, Australia, 1992. ISBN 1-875671-00-5
Also, see Quarter Scale Modeller No. 16, September 1998. In addition to the very informative construction article covering both the Boston III and Boston IV, this magazine reproduces the otherwise impossible to obtain, (for most of you out there) and excellent, drawings from APMA Magazine issues 3/86 and 2/87.
A terrific general reference, including colour photos, is Airpower Magazine from january 1996, Volume 26 No. 1. This may be available as a back-issue from the publisher.
And we should not overlook the Squadron "A-20 in Action" book.

Don't have anything from the other positions. I have 2 nice pics of cockpits tho. I know at least one of them is of an A-20 but the other is different--may be a DB-7. Both are color and of good quality. Can ya use em? Maybe for a future A-20? : ) Let me know and I'll dig em up no prob.
I built a model of an A-20G a ways back. Can't remember what I used for references. There was some digging. I remember at that time the Squadron "in action" book of the DB-7/A-20 was out of print and had to track it down thru interlibrary loan. That one had a ton of pics in it. I think it was re-issued when AMT came out with an injection molded A-20 and may be available now.

BTW thanks for adding this one. I passed this along to a friend of mine who's Dad flew the A-20 in the Pacific and then Vaders in Korea. That's him on the left. I'm sure he'll be thrilled.

I've got good cockpit references. I haven't been able to find anything on the bombadier postion. I have found one pic of the gunner position in the book "A-20 Boston at War".

Not that this is really much of a help, but the last time I was at NASM they had an A-20 glass nose on display...you might see if someone in DC can pop over there with a digital camera.
Now when you do and F/A-18, I can help you bigtime...:)

Smut,
Are you sure you're not thinking of the nose from "FlakBait", the B-26 we already have?

Gotta luv the A-20 at the USAF musuem in Dayton. Its got a skull and crossbones insignia on the nose (the guns form the eyes of the skull) thats really cool looking. I got a pic of it somewhere that I took the last time I was there, that I'll post if I can find it.

Kinda like this one? This is a model of an A-20G I built about 10 years ago of Mr. Hobday's plane. He flew for that group--the 312th Bomb Group. The group was divided into 4 squadrons. Each used a playing card logo on the fuselage as its designator. Hobday's squad used a spade. I forget the squad numbers. Wanna say it was something like 286-289th.
At that time I couldn't reproduce the "Ball of Fire" nose art. Technology's there today with scanners and better printers. Wish I could get that model back for a lil tweaking. Coulda used some weathering too. ; )

SUPERFLY why are you makeing it in british colurs? Why not American? I have an idea. Make 1 model British and another in American.:D Hey it could happen.
-
yeah, make the hard nose variant with 50 cals in the nose. :D
-
Come on fellas! I know somebody's gotta have some good shots. Even pictures of a model of the Boston III would work. (Nice A-20 btw Drano) Really, really, really need bombadier position pics!
-
SUPERFLY i was looking all over but i couldent find CLEAR NOSED Bostons. All were solid nosed. But i will look harder but in the meantime here are some pics i found. I think that this is the cockpit. But ill keep looking. But if you cant find the pics you need feel free to to an american one:D
-
another. You can kinda see the position.

-
How is this?
-
No inside pics, but look at American Planes of WW2 pp87-93 ISBN 1-84013-392-9 and British Planes of WW2 pp89-91 ISBN 1-84013-391-0. The formar has a cutaway schematic.
I'm looking forward to this plane: it's a half-way house between the Mosquito and the heavy bombers.

Thanks Viper. I actually have those pics already. That is a nice one Brady. It is the best one of the bombadier I've seen yet.
-
NP, glad I could do at least that much, have you asked the National Archive, or the Manufacture archive's? If you want I could inquire for you, also the Imperial War Museuim in England have always been very helpfull in this regard for pic's of subjects I have inquired about. And they do it in a timely maner. They have a fax number on their web page if memorie servies.

Your Welcome SUPERFLY. I spent most of my sickday looking for the stuff you needed. But hey its for the people aint it.:D
-
<<>>>
Not to mention the USSR got over 3000 of them. A new paint job on the A-20 would give the VVS a medium bomber to fly until the Tu-2 gets here.

Personaly I am happy it is British collors:)
-
Well, I'm sure there are more than enough variants to go around. The French might even get one. :)
What are the web addresses for those museums Brady?
-
Well i was thinking since your in texas and teh CAF is stationed in texas. Maby there is one they have you could look at.
-
They fly in to Dallas occasionally, but I think they are stationed in Houston. I had the opportunity to jump into their B17 when they flew into the Cavanaugh Museum back during my days with WB to take photographic references. Got to sit in the pilot's seat, the bombadier's seat and man the guns. Very cool. :)

In fact I Have a pic I orderd from them of a Boston MK II.
-
SuperFly, CAF has a Central Texas Wing in San Marcos. I could look up the numbers and call them and see if the have a B-20. I know they have a B25 (HINT, HINT) and a P40 (MORE HINTS)
Link for Texas Wing CAF
http://www.realtime.net/centex/
Anyway if they have one, I only live about 20 miles from San Marcos, I could drive over and take some digital pictures of the planes, and whatever details you need and send them to you.
If they dont have one, they may have materials I can copy or buy.
Let Me know.

Or you could ask the volentires at the Wright Paterson Air Force Base Museum to look for one for you.

I would explore the first 2 options after inquiring at the Imperial War Museum First. You Might get a quicker response talking to the people at these Museums so they get to know you:) I spoke with some of them on the phone and they all said the same thing they nead a fax, letter or e mail to officaly start the search, all have a little diferent requiremnt so you may want to just call first.
