Title: what if...?
Post by: spitfiremkv on April 06, 2002, 10:00:46 AM
I often ponder upon this...
If the coup against Hitler had succeeded and Rommel would have become president of a German democracy, would there have been a WW3 against the Soviet Union, with US allied with France,Germany,Uk and some more, against N. Korea,Vietnam and whoever else happened to be on the side of the bloody commies?
Would that have been a nuclear war?

I don't think Rommel would have started a WW3.  He was a tactician, not a politician.  He never would have wanted to be in the limelight, he just wanted supplies that he was promised and never got.  Had those "hollow promises" rang true, the world would be a different place.  His son Manfred is the mayor of Stuttgart, though.
