You are racin into an enemy field in your goon.. when a friendly in trouble sees your icon from 5-6k and decides to drag to you....
By the time he realizes you are in a goon its too late...
How about a different Icon for friendly goons so that your teammates can tell abit quicker, what it is you are in...

how about tellin him on AHV "hey damnit! im in a goon! go drag somewhere's else?!"
-
Not a bad idea, but we do have AHV and "Toggle Icons", so it's pretty easy to know who to drag to.

Cause some of us are pretty bad concerning spoken English ...
I'm a good exemple for misinterpretating my CO orders :)
And yes in French I don't confuse Nord and Sud (North et south) :D

Hmm, if I were in the goon, I'd set up a drag fer you NOE and then go for the proxy kill.

why not make all goon/m3 green icons flash & blink?
Itd catch the attention of everyone around and no need to change icon settings or tell everyone that playerID 455645454 is the goon.
-
Enough flashing and blinking on the map as it is, thank you.
-
not the map, in-flight popeye.
If you are supporting a field strike and there's about 3 friendly goons coming in, you NEED to be able to ID them on a glance...cause the enemy is drawn to them like dweebs to n1ks ;)
If the green icon was blinking it would be easily ID'able who the goon is and to boot, it draws everyone attention to it.. result: goonie would get more support and help (unless the team dont give a damn about him and just want to vulch hehe).
-
Or just a different colour icon for friendly goons.
It would make supporting/covering these guys easier
AHV... i can understand about 5-10% of what i hear over AHV.. for that reason I haven't bothered getting a headset, tho i have the cash standing by for the day AHV is useable.
Icon Mode... oh yes in a busy fight I check icons ALL the time, so I know what all my teammates are flying.....

Well, I'm not saying you should be checking friendly plane types "all the time", but.....
If I find myself dragging a bad guy to someone, I will check to see what plane he is flying, so I know what HIS options are. It doesn't take much time.
You could also do ".wingman (goondriver)", when someone announces that he has a goon, to give his icon a special color.

popey is on the right theme ...
I have just recently started flying the goon, and I flew 3 successful goon flights last night. Each time I approached the base/town to be taken (starting at least 10 miles out), I announced my position (8.7.6 or approaching NE of town) and repeatedly asked for status, and each and everytime I was completely ignored (even on range channel !!!) ... very frustrating. Nobody wants to circle around in a goon unless absolutely necessary so I said "F%&^ it" and dropped anyways ... lucky me !!!
Most goon drivers (usually the same guys all the time and SKurj is one of them - bless the goon drivers) are experienced goon drivers and from my observations ALWAYS ask status and announce approach direction and approx ETA.
With that in hand, why would we need a blinking icon. So those guys who don't give a rat's butt about you when you are on the radio, can be given a visual clue as to your approach. They probably wouldn't care anyways. They probably are there because the "Vulch Lamp" is lit and really aren't concerned with taking the base.
If you PAY ATTENTION while capping a base/town and watch the radio buffer, find out who the goon driver is and make the goon your wingman, you will know exactly where the goon is and where you need to go to protect or where not to go to drag.
SKurj, I understand your pain !!!, but until some of these people actually fly the goon, they will not appreciate what you go thru, but adding a blinking icon would be hokie IMHO and take away from the realism.
Whenever I see or hear ya coming ... If at all possible, I'll be there for ya.

Hey when dragging a bad guy I allways look for goons cause I know they are gonna break off me and go for the goon:eek:
-
skurj if you made some missions you could see who your goon was and set him to wingman making him white :D
oohh right sorry mission is a swear word right? ;)
actually i think its a good idea to have the goons stand out as a different colour. There arent too many regular goon drivers and we should show them they are appreciated by covering them into the base.It would be a damn sight easier to do that if we knew who they were at a glance.
Flashing icons i dont like the idea of personally.anything that flashes on and off on a computer screen just reminds you its a computer screen :D loses immersion imo.(as do icons of course but seems you learn to ignore them in attacks.)
lets make the icons.......olive drab or sky blue :) hehehe

Yeah, I have my squad convinced that my English isn't that good, for the same reason.
