heres direct link to film: (9MB)
http://combatarena.users.btopenworld.com/images/MED-FINISHED-US-FILM.bik
And heres a direct link to the 'Bink and smacker' film player (RAD tools) (1.2 MB)
http://www.radgametools.com/down/bink/radtools.exe
its the same film compressor that World War 2 Online use.
Enjoy and let me know what you think.
(i have a 13MB version which is crystal clear and i can send to anyone who wants a perfect version, the 9MB was necessary for my limited webspace and so fast bits of the fim have slight blockiness creeping in.But it hardly notices.Bink is a fantastic compressor/codec. From 1.5GB uncompressed AVI to 9MB compressed! and this quality! @5 minutes long too :) )

wow hazed i'm impressed :D great music too, nice work!

Yep, i've been using SMACKER , from the same company. Its impressive.
-
Nice film work. <

Holy cow that is so cool - how did you make this film? Actually, better question is how do you convert the AH film to AVI? I'm assuming once you got the avi, you used the RADTOOLS software to put the music in and compress?
I would love to do some of this stuff, but am a dweeb when it comes to the software and tools out there that are available. So
any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!
I gotta go now, need to play the film again.... :D

That kicks butt! What bit rate is the music? Glad I checked it out at home with my Grado headphones :)
-
Very nice, liked the music too :)
-
the music was downloaded as an MP3 i then peiced the two songs together(edited out a second of music so it matched the change in scene to large frontal shot of p47. I used goldwave for this.Saved it in an uncompressed format (i assume as it went from 2.25MB to 27MB) then after i had made film used the RAD tools to mix in sound with a value of 9 for the compression.( it says 0 for no loss 4 for barely loss 99 very lossy)
I also coverted it to 8bit and away i went using the 27MB sound as the mp3 version seemed to distort and only save 100,000 bytes so wasnt worth it.But you dont add music or sounds until the film is 1-2MB smaller than your final prefered size (i was aiming at 10MB so i reduced my film to 7.8MB before i added the music bringing it up to 8.9-9.4MB i think)
The AVI was made using the new AHfilmviewer (not one on clipboard modas, look in AH directory. I use the AHfilm viewer to convert AHF film files to uncompressed AVI. The original film took up 1.5GB once edited!. I used VirtualDub to edit my clipped sections together etc and keeping it in uncompressed format for quality. And VirtualDub didnt recognise bink to edit with :( but no matter :D
Then I used bink to compress the 1.5GB file to 10% and cut frames per second to 8-12 instead of @25fps. (also can make it greyscale if needed) and it took it down to around 40MB with barely a perceptable change! its amazing.
Then its a matter of binking a second time (i used 40% i think) and it reduced it again to under 10MB added a 120 value on brightness :D
Added my sound and bingo all done.
you can convert back to any AVI codec you have with bink too but it seems to lose any sound you have added. This is why i keep my films in BINK as i cant be bothered to learn ANOTHER editing programme!!! :D
BINK is absolutely easy to learn. click on help on any screen in it and you get a laymens description of what each choice/option does. Easy to mess around with.
thats only the fourth film ive made :D.
glad you all liked it. I need to learn now how to make a credits/intro section and add it in. Its been the trickiest part so far so ive left it off :).
I only started learning any of this stuff a week or so after 1.09 so its not hard to pick up!, i suggest you all have a try.
Btw best to nave lots of room on your HD. i had 20GB freespace on my HD and i ran out !!! lol I had so many small bits that i forgot to delete that when i finally got rid of all the crappy deleted scenes i got 17GB back !!! lol, but you need plenty of space if your'e working with uncompressed editing.
good luck and go to film viewer forums for help with all the questions you might have most of my posts are the sort of thing you'll need to know im sure, and there were many that helped me out! to those guys.

Don't know if I should ya or CHOKE ya!
Great Work!

Sounds like it will be a good one hazed, I'll watch it when I get home...
-
Good stuff - great chioce in music.
!!! =D
-
Loved it. The only thing that threw it off was the P-47 shooting down a P-51D. Replace that with a Me or FW and it's a golden classic!
Great job!

vv midnight alas i couldnt choose what the enemy flew in the MA :)
if we had these sorts of numbers in the CT i could do those sorts of films but it just doesnt happen much.
it does kind of spoil it thought youre right.but thats why i didnt show close ups of it breaking up from externally. it looked great but was too obviously a us plane to even a laymen.
as it is only those that play a lot lose the 'US vs...' feeling :)
really glad you all liked it.
-
punt for any that have missed it :)
-
Most excellent film dude great choice of music too!
