Title: Sick situation
Post by: Maverick on April 11, 2002, 02:06:16 PM
There was a news story yesterday about animal cruelty. Sesms some real sick life form decided it would be fun to skin a live 10 week old puppy and leave it to be found. The puppy was alive when found but of course had to be put down. This life form (can't bring myself to say it was / is a person) needs to be put down themselves.  It is scary to think they are walking around the city where I live. I hope they don't decide to branch out and try other beings to practice on before they / it are found and put away.

Grrrr.....I hate animal cruelty....especially as twisted as what you describe.

One incident I read about that really saddened me was that of a 8 week old basset hound being dumped from a moving car on the highway.  He survived the drop and got up, and the poor thing tried for all he was worth to run and catch up to those who cruelly dumped him.  :( He was hit by a car and somehow, survived.  But that mental image of that poor bassett puppy running through traffic to catch up to a car, in hopes of being welcomed and loved just mashes my heart...

I'm not a very emotional guy in terms of sadness and boohooing.  But hearing that story, and seeing the pics of how he looked after the trauma just brought a tear to the eye.  Happily, he's made a full recovery and is living the good life with some people who love em now.

People that do stuff like that deserve the death penalty.  They do not respect life....I'm all for Turkish Prison treatment for amazinhunks like that.

This is actually VERY true!

My sister was a reporter a few years ago.  She was working on a story that sought to link violence against animals to violence against people.  She had an interview with some psychologist coming up to discuss a specific occrance of violence perpetrated against a dog by a guy here...she never got to do the interview.

Ironically the sicko murdered the psychologist....nothing to do with the interview though...he was caught breaking in to the shrink's house and killed him.

True story!

That's almost certainly true Eagler.

In fact, there is alot of evidence to suggest that the same people who are able to abuse animals, are equally able to abuse children. There are cases of people who had a history of abusing animals, before they were convicted of child abuse.

That's just awful.  Some people just need shootin'.

I recently was witness to abuse by stupidity.  Was driving to lunch with friends a couple months ago and saw this dumb squeak with her dog in the back of her pickup, tailgate down, come tearing around a left-hand turn to make the light and about 30 feet later the dog ends up on the pavement.  Poor thing struggled to get up, but couldn't make one of his hind legs work.

Lady looked concerned enough when she stopped and scooped the dog up, but I doubt concern made the dog's leg feel any better.
