Designed under Kurt Tank in 1931 as the A44 (from the former Albatross Werke), the FW-44 was the first really big success by Focke-Wulf and many thousands were made over a period of about a decade. At least 300 were exported prior to World War II, some of these being of the FW44B type with 120 HP Argus As9 inverted four-in-line engine. Of mixed construction, this trim tandem-seat biplane was delightful to fly and fully aerobatic.

Yep I found out where you got the pics.  I did recognize the YC-14 and the Fw though.  :)
