Yeah, you need those guys to fight off the frenchies huh?

Regardless of what you think Dowding,  I thank God that there are those in your government that know what this is all about and are doing what has to be done...

lol So you think the Army etc are all sat in barracks back in Blightly!? lol

Do you have any idea how underfunded the British armed forces is and how thinly they are stretched across the globe?

No? You surprise me!

Consider how underfunded the US armed forces are and worsen the situation 10 times - maybe then you can grasp the situation.

They were interviewing some Col in the Royal Marines last night. I almost felt sorry for the Taliban. Theses guys look like they are there to kick bellybutton and take names! This guy looked like walked right out of a war movie :)

We trained w/the Coldstream Guards once in Korea. They got to go on a live fire w/us I remember. They where soooooo hyped about it..it was wierd. We asked whats up and they told us they hardly EVER got to do live fires. We where like..how in the f(*& do you train for the real sh*& then. They just shrugged... "cowboys and indians". Uggg....felt sorry for them.

I will say the Brits have some damn good units and soldiers. They're pro's. Brit's goto a Unit and stay there ALONG time. They develope a sense of History and comradier w/about thier unit.

I'd fight beside a Brit anyday.

Well, having been in the military, I can categorically say funding is a very small part of being a soldier.  A good soldier is that due to his heart.  You cannot take that away from him.

I have a lot of respect for the British army.  Pride and a strong sense of duty has a tendency to overcome most obstacles.  I would not want to be on the receiving end of an angry British/Scottish soldier.

If you have not served in the military, it is hard to describe the way you feel when you don your uniform in the name of your country.  I know how these guys feel, so please do not do a disservice to them by negating the impact they will have in this just cause.

for all the people involved in this action.

Trying to figure out where I said that, wait, I didn't say that.  I tell ya what, I'll make a deal with you dowding, it's ok for you to keep putting words in my mouth if it's ok if I stick something of mine in your mouth!  though you'd probobly enjoy that so I retract that offer.

I can grasp that a large part of your country can grasp the seriousness of this war.  Enough people for your underfunded underfed army to be put into action, can you?  I doubt it very seriously....

thanks again though :)

Yea...I remember the brits "kit" ie rucks that where issued to them..they hated. They went out and bought thier own...

I wish I'd kept in touch w/all them. Cpl Weatherall, Pvt Riley, Pvt Savage etc...all great guys. Great drinkers and fighters as well.

My problem is not with the deployment per se, but Blair's willingness to increase world wide involvement without increasing funding. Some of the shortages/inadequacies within the British military are frankly embarrassing.

And there are plenty of current servicemen who have similar feelings. Blair should make a choice, IMO.

Err... so what did you mean by this, exactly:

lol Sexual slurs now Udie? I always knew you were a bright lad, but your powers of elucidation astound me. Are you going to call my mother a potato next?

I think I'd be trying out the squelch function right about now, but I enjoy reading your idiotic posts for some reason.

Well, just because your President describes it as such, doesn't make it so. I'd call it an anti-terrorism conflict - especially considering the other 'side' has no fixed nationality. They can't even be pinned to a single continent, nevermind geographical region.

Lastly, point to where I said I disagreed with the deployment.

Mind how you go now!

Well we have the same problem with some, not all, but still alot of Democrats here.

IMO he has made the correct choice.

Well since you seem to be completely dense I'll explain it to you though I don't think you will understand. That was a sarcastic way of saying that you haven't been using you're military that much and haven't used any weapons hardly in the past 20 years, and I like making fun of the frenchies :D

Sounds to me like you need to take a reading comprehension class.

No, but I would question her ability to raise children to be smart, inteligent or logical.

Squelch on the UBB is over rated.  I've had you squelched for a while now, but it still shows your name when you post and I can still read the post if I chose, kinda like a scab  I just can't quit picking at it.

you're spot on here.  Because of what happened on 9/11 makes it so, you complete and utter moron.

I'd call it an anti-terrorism conflict - especially considering the other 'side' has no fixed nationality. They can't even be pinned to a single continent, nevermind geographical region.

I call it a war on terrorism and I call you an idiot.  Do you consider the Earth a geographical region?

Lastly, point to where I said I disagreed with the deployment.

Why should I?  I never said you are against it.  But judging from you're initial post to this THANK YOU thread  I'd ASSume that you were against it.  I never said so, I challenge you to point to where I did, oops you lose again (insert mouth joke here)

That's my whole point, for christ's sake! And you have the cheek to question my reading comprehension skills! Here is the thread in chronological order:

1) You say something that amounts to 'Your military isn't doing much.'

2) I point out this isn't true.

3) You reckon that my interpretation of comment 1) is false.

4) I ask you to explain comment 1)

5) You expand on your thoughts and confirm interpretation comment 1)

That wasn't too tricky now, was it?

Quote
IMO he has made the correct choice.

Have you read anything I said, and pondered them with those heightened powers of comprehension of yours? To make it crystal clear for you, the choice I was referring to was:

Either:
1) Cease committing more British troops to foreign conflicts/actions

Or:
2) Increase funding and continue making committments

No, but I would question her ability to raise children to be smart, inteligent or logical.

If that's an attempt to get me to bite, then you really are the fool I perceive you to be. I will say that I'm no genius, but considering I have a Masters degree in Physics from one of the best uni's in the country and have managed hold a job in computer programming since I graduated, I'd say she did a decent job.

Now, have you finished with the personal attacks (or attacks on relatives) or is there any more mud you want to sling?

Hehehe. I didn't know that. Like I've stated previously, your posts are on the whole too funny to be ignored. Perhaps it's something to do with affirmation of stereotype? Who knows.

I disagree. Sept.11th was a massive escalation of a conflict that has been occuring for decades. It doesn't make any ensuing action a 'war' - I was under the impression that would defy the definition of the word.

That's your problem, not mine.

I think you give yourself far too much credit by even mentioning it again, nevermind calling it a 'joke'. It wasn't even original.

Met a couple of brits when I served too, I would fight alongside them any day. Also, had me a New Zealender as my driver, he was serving in our Army. Great guy, but had to keep him away from the sardines in the field.
