i got my gf4 ( ti4600 ) videocard a few days ago and dont see a big increase on framerates to my former gf3.
i cant get higher than 75 fps on a resolution of 1600*1200/32 with a 21" monitor. the monitor runs at 75mhz / vertical rate at maximum.
does that mean, that i cant get more fps than my monitor refreshes with 75 ? ... is the monitor refres rate directly related to the fps ?

Yes IF vertical sync is enabled in display properties. if disabled, it will do more. but that is not recomended by a few
Now is your time to crank FSAA to 4xS and enjoy high resolution, fully anti-aliased gaming :)

v-sync is off ... but what you mean with that FSAA and 4xS ?

Hiya Airmess :) I've flown with you, and you are no dummy :D
I saw your query about frame rate, and thought I would direct you to my earlier thread (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30056) about this. Your problem may be unrelated, but I thought this might be something to think about. Maybe DX 8.2 is in the works?

You upgraded from a Geforce 3 to a Geforce 4 Ti4600 and you dont know about FSAA?
FSAA: Full Scene Anti Aliasing.
4xS: Four times FSAA with SuperSampling
It will get rid of the jagged edges in 3D objects. It will also get rid of terrain shimmering.
Right-click on the desktop and select PROPERTIES..
Select SETTINGS..
Select ADVANCED
(assuming you have the reference nvidia drivers)
Select Geforce 4 Ti4600
Select ADDITIONAL PROPERTIES
Select 3D ANTI-ALIASING SETTINGS
Now choose 4xS (Direct3D Only) and go play Aces High. DROOL at the visual difference...
If its too slow (I doubt it) the lower the FSAA setting to 4x or Quincux. Report your results here.

Yes if your vsync is on and your refresh rate is at 75 than your maximum FR will be 75 and it won't drop it will just stay there. 1 of two things you can do. Turn your refresh rate higher and vsync on. Or turn your vsync off and go with the default refresh rate and it should be fine. Hope this helps.
