One newborn == free hollydays :)
from 18 april to 13 may :)
Yummy that's good :D
Jealous no ?
I'm pretty sure the Swedes and the Danes got more than me but I'm rather pleased anyway ;)
-
I doubt its free..someone is paying for that time off, tax dollars comes to mind.
Here in the US, they are required by law to give the father/mother up to 6 months "Leave of Absence" but you do not get paid unless you have sick leave or vacation built up. I prefer this systems since I am not sticking the tax payer with the bill.
Either way, enjoy your time off with the little one! ;)
-
Hmmm, so, how many a year do you have to build so that you become "free of work" ? ;)

straffo
Here in the states the woman, the mother of the child, usually takes a leave of absence from her work not the man.
Have I been guessing your sex incorrectly all this time? :)
-
Maybe it's hard to understand but in some countries governments help families to have some "quality time" so they can spend time together and enjoy their life with childrens :)
-

Luckily, most adults in the US don't need big brother to accomplish that ;)

Yeah, we have T V !!! Beat that !!!
My wife is due in about 3 weeks. I'll have to use up my vacation time to stay home and help her .... hell, I'd take unpaid vacation if they would give it to me... as if that's going to happend..
-
LOL, so true FD! I took off 2 months when first son was born...one months worth of sick leave that I'd saved up and wife had an astonishing 6 months worth saved up over 10 years!
-
Sure you get a holiday now, but you've then got 20-odd years without.
Congratulations, BTW.

midnight.. i'm the father not the mommy :)
Does that still apply ?

What we need here is for the Government to raise our kids for the first five years of their lives. Who better than Uncle Sam to teach our babies patriotism and family values? Also if the Government raised our babies they could offer valuable insight into the potential career paths that would be most beneficial to the State and Society, or possibly weed out those genetically defective babies that will be most likely to commit crimes or become real fat. Have your baby, the Government raises it the first five years and gives it back to you when the kid starts Kindergarten.
I think this is a great idea, although it may be too far to the right for most of you leftists.

Nevermind, Found it. Thanks midnight. I'll be seeing my HR :D

Sorry, just saw your post..... Enjoy :)

Straffo I'm sure you paid plenty of taxes so enjoy it. :)
Bartek my best wishes and prayers for you and your family. :)

Goverment is and expense. It creates no wealth only expends it. In this case they mandate that companies cover this loss.
Unfortunately the company must pass this on to there customers
or close there doors. In 1991 a small burger med. drink and small frys at a Mc Donalds in Helsinki Finland was almost $10.00.
No I am not jealous of the Socialist Democracies of Europe.
God bless them, may we learn from there experience and try not
to follow them down this garden path.
