It's all over CNN. The newscatsers are 'sploding with orgasmic glee. They have have "experts" and "analysts comparing to the OJ thing. They are wondering how big a story it will be.
What a bunch of amateur fools. We are in a war on terrorism, the situation in the mideast, etc. etc. and these idiots are all over this Robert Blake story with orgasmic glee. The guy was in a 3 year running cop show in the seventies. How is this newsworthy? It aint. What happened to real news? Every "news magazine" show you watch now is just a drama. Now the actual news is just a drama. Completely irrelevant sensationalism. And the Robert Blake crap is just getting started.
(can you tell how I feel about mickey mouse news?)
-
Sensationalism and Chaos is $$ in the eyes of the Media.
-
Press the button marked "POWER" on your remote controller and step away from the television.
-
News channels just seem to be all or nothing ... from Levy/Condit to this to the "War on Terrorism"
Guess they have to go overboard to fill 24/7 with something
Maybe a couple of folks will get shark bit this weekend and the theme will change :)
-
It was the parrot that made him do it.
-
it's just because it's something new and they think they can improve their ratings.
capitalism at it's finest...
-
Is anyone else disturbed by the fact hblair mentioned "orgasmic glee" twice in his post?
I stopped watching the news a looooong time ago. I just watch espn's sportscenter here and there.
you guys do a good enough job of a news source for me. lol
-
I'm in the office a good part of the day. We keep a TV going tuned to CNN for customers to watch. That's why I get burnt out on it.
-
Take the Milan plane crash for example. Its newsworthy, BUT, they take it wayyyy out of proportion. I even get the feeling that they KNEW it wasn't terrorist related, but they run those stupid "TERROR IN MILAN?" pieces, and interview NTSB investigators and everybody else and their brother - whoever will stand still long enough to answer inane questions - ad nauseum. Seems like they all do it, too.
-
I hear anyone that met Blake's wife had a reason to kill her. That's an awful thing to say about someone, but I know from first hand experience that there are people like that in this world.
Still, you'd think this would be a thirty second story and more coverage would be forthcoming over the Alaska Oil story, alternative sources in other areas, or why turtles in Florida are preventing progress.
-
Lets hope if found guilty, the judge bursts out in song with "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time". :)

That'd suck HB... if I had to hear/see the TV on all day I'd go nuts.
specially CNN ;)
-
All the news broadcasts were broken into last night, for his car ride to the police station(?).
It was almost as bad as when the stupid 30 mph OJ car chase interrupted the NBA finals.
-
ambulance chasers...
no...
story chasers.. pathetic
-
Don't know about the rest of the country , but do you get the "live car chase" coverage as regularly as we do? Amazing how fast the local networks get on that stuff. Then people who live nearby go running out to get on TV.
Don't these idiots who run in a car know they NEVER get away? One guy broke down on the Freeway, then got out and started pushing his car! Now that was funny! :D
-
Change it to Fox News Channel. Let get both sides of a story.
-
Honestly,I believe him when he said he went back into the restaraunt to retreive his handgun which he left behind..Nevermind the witnesses that saw him enter the restaraunt and nervously drink 3 glasses of water...
-
...Keep your eye on the sparrow.
-
I became immediately, suspicious when I saw him hanging around that white, chicken looking, thing.

Heh, well take the local news here.
Last night, a thunderstorm rolled through. Some tornado warnings, but nothing touched down. Straight-line winds knocked down a couple of barns.
Meanwhile, there's a downtown bar here.
The local city council rejected the application for a liquor license on the grounds that it was an establishment clearly targeting underage kids and encouraging binge drinking.
Now, I'm as opposed to the 21 drinking age as the next guy, but this place was bad.
So the bartender, to keep up with the other new place, pulls the stunt of dumping bacardi 151 on the bar, igniting it, and having kids do shots and spit them into the fire. At the umpteenth iteration of this, something goes wrong.
Hospitalized are six people: 2 18 year olds, 2 19, 1 20, and 1 21. Two are still in the burn unit. A woman literally lost her face. (I mean, witnesses saw it come off in the bar rag)
Top story out here in the boondocks?
The four calves that were in a 100-year-old barn that was blown down all survived with minor scratches.

Wasn't hblair the guy that wanted to have sex with our daughters in another thread? That one that got locked?? Coupled (no pun intended) with his "orgasmic glee" comments I'm beginning to think he's a freak.

Who really cares about this person. All he did in his life was get paid to pretend he was something he wasn't. Why should that be ANY reason to make him into something special.
Wait for the courts to do their thing and do keep in mind that LA is a town dedicated to fantasy and made up stuff. Don't figure it has much to do with reality.
(in case you hadn't noticed I have little to no respect for "entertainers" as their "accomplishments" aren't based in the real world. They just mimic life, if that, and don't really contribute anything to making the world a better place.)

Fox News Channel
This is the same news channel that was reporting the huge drop in stock market as people were burning to death inside the still standing WTC on 9/11. I mean no disrespect to anybody but I almost through my TV out of the window. All the News channels are the same. And they do nothing good for anybody. Watching TV after 9/11 was like some kind of sick soap opera, and the Media swam in like sharks to eat up all of the world's sorrow.

I'm with you Maverick. Sadly, it's one aspect of the US culture that has been exported everywhere I deplore; this fascination and god-making of actors.
Look at what they do; they read some script.
It's an easy job in the sense that you're born with the talent or you're not.
Acting is basically burger flipping, only with a camera on.
I say kill 'em all.

Nah.. its not a "god-like" thing at all. Its a familiarity thing. When you can actually put a face to the name... its a bit different. Less anonymous.
I do agree that the media goes overboard with this crap. But that I can tune out. It doesn't lessen the fact that another hollywood handsomehunk felt he could murder someone and walk away scott free.
