Title: Win2k nVidia Refresh Rate Fix
Post by: funkedup on April 22, 2002, 01:39:43 AM
The fix I have will not work for the latest Detonators, and the author says he hasn't time to fix it.
Are there any alternatives?  60 Hz sucks.

xp-28.80's work fine for me and are refresh fix supported.

I've put them up for grabs here (http://users.kymp.net/cable130/w2k-xp-2880.zip) just for you.

I use the RIVA-Tuner - sets refreshrate at the highest supported value for all resolutions - and some neat tweaking features as well!

Det.28.80 are the only drivers that work for me (without bluescreen - freezes... )

Title: win xp refresh fix
Post by: dsfire48 on April 28, 2002, 11:49:57 PM
if you are trying to fix the refresh probelm with windows xp........grab a chair and sit down!! Win XP put a default in the OS that only lets the system run at OpenGL rates of 60 fps and Direst 3d at 75 fps regardless of what setting you choose.  In order to fix this you must get the NVREFFIX patch available at http://www.planetquake.com by Sten.  But hold on thers is more.  If you have a nvidia card you are probably running a Detonator driver and unless it is 27.42 or lower the patch doesnt work.  All the new drivers, ex: 28.32 from nvidia and private beta ones such as 28.80 and 28.90 from guru3d wont work either.  Sten knows of this probelm but has not fixed it yet.  So  I was able to find the fixed 28.90 Detonator driver with compatablity on the NVREFFIX patch progrma from this website http://www.nvchips-fr.com/download/downloads.php?Category=10. It is a french site but the download comes out english and it changes the default refresh rate on XP.  Install the driver first and then run the patch program and select "set every resolution the support the monitors max rate". Reboot the computer and viola, you are now at whatever refresh rate you can support with your system.  It took me almost 8 hours to figure this out even with lots of help form people on this forum.  Good luck and hopefully MS will pull their head out of their butt soon and stop making things so difficult!:)
