Title: Questions about A20
Post by: cajun on April 23, 2002, 01:54:05 PM
Q1: Whats the armament? 6x50 cals and 1 tail turrent? I heard somewhere we get a tail turrent and ventral gun...

Q2: Does it have a bomb site or do we have to dive bomb?

Q3: How many bombs does it carry?

six .50 in nose, two .50 in top turrent, no tail or ventral guns, this is the solid nose attack version so no bomb sight, if we also get the glass nose version (boston) it will have a bomb sight. not sure on bomb load.

The armament varied during the production run.
http://home.att.net/~jbaugher4/a20_17.html

A-20G-1-DO (250 built)
Nose:  4 x 20 mm fixed
Forward Fuselage:  2 x .50 cal fixed
Dorsal:  2 x .50 cal flexible
Ventral:  1 x .30 cal or 1 x .50 cal flexible
Bombs:  2000 lb internal

A-20G-5-DO to A-20G-15-DO (500 built)
Nose:  4 x .50 cal fixed
Forward Fuselage:  2 x .50 cal fixed
Dorsal:  2 x .50 cal flexible
Ventral:  1 x .30 cal or 1 x .50 cal flexible
Bombs:  2000 lb internal

A-20G-20-DO to A-20G-45-DO (2100 built)
Nose:  4 x .50 cal fixed
Forward Fuselage:  2 x .50 cal fixed
Dorsal:  2 x .50 cal Martin turret
Ventral:  1 x .50 cal flexible
Bombs:  2000 lb internal, 2000 lb external

Screenshots of the AH A-20G show a Martin turret, so it's an A-20G-20-DO or later.

I just checked the serial number on the screenshot (43-9126) and I think that's an A-20G-25-DO.
