Say HiTech is it possible to get a rearview mirror installed on the Razorback Jug's. It would help know whats on one's six a little better then having to "wag the tail" to see whats behinde you.
Also a paddel blade prop would be a nice feature for the D-11

That's a 63rd FS jug. ;) UN-T(bar) "Ann K" flown by Lt. Robert B Campbell Jr.
-
Nice Pic, Nuch:D
-
Sancho,
It was not UN-T tail # 226258 In Silver with D-Day stripes.. Ann K was in Drab Brown with D-Day Stripes and I beleive Campbell was KIA I think he had 4 kills to his name.. as well.
I do think the 63rd had the most Aces in a squad..for a Jug Pilot

A lot of planes had rear view mirrors. I think HT once said he looked into what it would take to add and decided it would tax the FE too much.
-
He obviously needs that rearview mirror. Wish we did. The rearviews in AH are too good imo. Hmm, I wonder how the community would react to realistic head placements?

The rear views may be a bit better than real life, but I can't move my head as fast in AH as I can in RL.
IMHO, it ballances out.
I think what HT said was that rear view mirrors tax the Frame Rate. I guess that would fall into FE but FR is more specific.
That said, I would also like to see the mirrors...Hogs, Jugs, Spits, etc...perhaps in time. :D

If I recall, the early mark Spitfires used automobile mirrors (Rolls Royce, I believe) mounted high on the front windscreen rail above the pilot's head. Later, special rearview mirrors came standard from the factory for Spitfires as well as other aircraft.
In my opinion, a mirror feature would be hard on slower machines and would tax the graphics system more than it would help gameplay.

Wweellll...guess they could give it as an option ::grins:: PPLLLLEAAASSSSEEEE!!!
Also Gofaster...You wouldn't have the problem if weren't in South Florida :) I wonder if they can count??
-
where did that photo come from?
-
If you got a con in your rearview mirror ------ your already dead.

Sancho,
Try Web-birds.com.. They have ton's of pic's from the 56th FG.
I'm a P-47 junkie.. I got tons of websites. If you e-mail me I'll send you what links I have. I even have a site with runup charts..ect..
BTW what side does your squad fly on??
My addy is pwilson8@cfl.rr.com
-
we currently fly bishop in the MA.
-
Sancho..
I stand corrected.. Ann K was UN-T(bar) was lost on 21 Sept by Ltn Harold Spicer (KIA)
Campbell was KIA in UN-Y (P-47D #42-75870) 15 Aug 44 wich was one of Col. Harold "Bunny" Comstocks A/C.
However I do find this confusing why did Comstock have 4 UN-Y's Two models were p-47 C's and the other two were P-47D's He also flew UN-Z...now this gets confusing..
Do you have any clue on this subject??

If a plane got damaged and written off, upgraded or similar, the pilot would get the same ID again. It was quite common.
Look at http://www.pyker.dircon.co.uk and there's a almost complete list of all 56th FG planes.
He most likely flew Zemke's plane (UN-Z) if his own was unservicable.

I'm pretty sure the mirror on the Jug was the same model used on the Spitfire. I asked a Spitfire ace (Jerry Collinsworth) about that mirror and he said it was useful on the ground or for formation flying but worthless in combat.

I would like to see P-47B Razorback for PAW...

Not me, the B model wasnt used in service in the PAC theatre. The B didnt even make it out of the United states for combat service.

S!
Rgr Ammo.
P-47B`s were used by 56th F.G. in New York State for training purposes, but were left behind when they shipped out to Britain. They picked up C models there in November of `42, but the group did not see combat till the spring of `43 and these C models saw under 5 combat missions before they were upgraded to D standard. The early to mid Razorback D models did the heavy lifting in air combat for the 8th USAAF... :)
With and without Paddleblade.
As far as I know, no C models saw service in the PAC Theater either. Lot`s of early Razorback D`s tho.
