Title: Jug drivers think they own the high sky, or what?
Post by: Dago on April 28, 2002, 07:40:53 PM
Twice today when I took my spitfire to altitude above 20k, I came upon a P47.  Each time resulted in a fight that I won.  Each time resulted in a whine on ch1 about how I shouldn't have a Spitfire up that high.

Whats with some dweebs?  Do they think they  own the sky?  Do they get so embarrassed dieing they must make stupid comments on ch1?

Guess what?  Spitfires are not limited to altitudes below 10k,  weren't in real life, aren't in Aces High.  Here is another fact, a jug is only as good as the guy flying it.

Someone like Drex could hand me my butt with a Jug, but these two bozos today couldnt.

Just amazed me that a couple dorks would make such stupid comments.

You're correct, that is stupid for those fellas to whine about.

Most all the Spits perform quite well up high....while I like the jug, I'm no Ace in it, and find if I have the alt advantage, I win.  Co alt or con higher than me is a more grim story  :D

One thing that I HAVE noticed in my short tenure here besides having fun, is the decided lack of any imagination on the "smack" channel.

Talking "smack" when done well, approaches an art form. Saying "you suck" doesn't really take advantage of the opportunity givin.

It's your channel, be constructive, be entertaining..

I know I suck, and being told so, doesn't add to the "aura"

But if you can tell me I suck in an unique way ??

LOL you GO for it.

Let's work on being constuctive and entertaining when talking smack. I did the school yard 40 years ago :)

We will all benifit from the input.

Theme for the week:
Constructive ( and entertaining ) smack 1A

Or how I can piss someone off and make everyone laugh at the same time.

What was it Col. Gabreski said about the Spit IX?

Oh yeah, "The Spit IX, now that's a fighter!"

who was it?

Naa, don't whine, I would just shoot ya down, or drag you off till I had an advantage.  Rarely i am up that high anymore in the MA anyway.

Spit at 20k? Huh, cheating!!!

I beat once TA152 at 30k. LW driver whine only that he has drink too much whisky :D No doubt.

High altitude fights are fun. You need to be very gently with your plane.

Spits = LawnDarts Low :p

They where wrong it's the P38. Her big wings hugs the thin air.
It's at its best at 25K where dweeb spit pilots will suffer it's great appearence.

So come on up and play at 25 K!
The lightning will show up and blow u away

And that's not all, ur spitty will fall

Never mind don't petty
It's just a dweeb spitty

hhhm sigh

Some good comments here about flying 25K and above. Almost all of them I agree with. I am a Jug Driver. I do not think I own the skies above 25K, I just FEEL like it sometimes. The Lightning is my biggest challenge that hi. Very nice airplane and famous for its abilities that hi. There are a number of planes that do well up there, but most people do not have the patience to fly up there. Almost everyone wants instant action.
And whiners.........who needs them? I have progamed one key on my stick that keys ".squelch". I just hit that button, fill in "1" and often "6" and I am off. I know I miss good things on 1, but from my experience in my 5 years of flying there is just way more bad crap on 1 than the good. Something neat here in AH is the "Tune To" function which I occasionally use when inspired to tell someone how well he kicked my six.
The whiners I get a kick out of are the ones that try to HO a Jug, and then wonder why they going up in smoke. I don't usually use the HO as a tactic, but when faced with the situation, and the other guy pulls the trigger FIRST I figure the fool needs a lesson in why they call the Jug the "Thunderbolt"! There is a lot to be said for 8 .50's in your face!
And lets face it, there are some dweebs that are going to whine no matter what happens. This game can be quite frustrating at times. Aces High should have an Anger Managment program available!;)
Enough from this Shell Shocked Jug Jock! See you up! and watch your six! (and remember, if you going HO with a Jug, THINK before you pull that trigger!)

It was funny that one the first fight, I had descended from 38k before I saw the guy and engaged him.  Dont normally fly that high, just did it on a whim.

Maybe the most fun for you, but I set my hard deck at 10k.  I'm tired of all the noobs and thier F-16 ACM in the La7s.

Course, I love to leave'em scratchin thier head when they try to jump my pony at 20k and wonder how I beat'em :D

Flying a Spoit is cheating.  Plane and simple.

I dont think it's cheating, not at all.   However not many people will take you very seriously as a "pilot" in any game when you fly some planes (and the spit 9 is probably one of them in AH right behind the La7).

I almost never take my jug over 15k. takes too much time, get too little action.

channel 1 is constantly squelched. opened only after a good fight for giving .

we have the spit IX-HF model. no wonder it's good at alt - that is what it's supposed to do.

fighting a spit with a jug co-E?
the other guy better be a newbe or you'd better be Drex.

There are a large group of sim pilots that self appoint themselves aces.  The great thing they have to help in their disillusion is taking a plane like the jug, and if they die they have the “my plane is tougher to fly then yours” excuse already built in.  In Dago’s case, if they were in spits the conclusion would have probably ended the same.  With that much altitude to play with, plane performance is not a huge obstacle.  Secret:  Geometry and Energy State.  (don’t let it get out that you know this).  When you look at a spit and that is all you see.  Odds are…your going to lose.

No expert by any freaking means, but I feel that if you die in the P-47 you pretty much knew you were going to before you engaged.  The plane keeps you fairly safe if you don't fly stupid and with an ENY of 40 it has it's advantages for the perk poor.

The P-47D-11 has 2623 kills and has been killed 1785 times.  (Even a dweeb like me is 70:28 in it.)

...against the dreaded Spit 9...

The P-47D-11 has 215 kills and has been killed 163 times against the Spitfire Mk IX.

A very cool discussion has come out of the original post, but as I have been mulling it over and over in my tiny little pea-sized brain, suddenly it hit me what was wrong with this picture.
The original post was a whine about someone whining!
BRAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNKKK!!
End of discussion! Whining is totally pointless in this game. You don't get perks or points for it.(even though some people do not seem to be aware of this!) And all the whining does for me is over-torque my wingnuts! No matter what altitude it is done at.:)
