all,
I was squeakin at brady5 this eve regarding map durations, he suggested I post something here. It was a good suggestion.:D
From what I've seen and what I've heard from others in my squad the biggest drawback in the CT is that the map/scenario changes too quickly.
I really like the idea of a two country arena to play in. But, I don't play much in the CT because it seems that every time I show up I'm starting over. That's a pain in the posterior. Here's what I'd like to see:
1 - Each map/scenario last a full month;
2 - Have a schedule to cover a coupla months so that the players can have an idea of what's happening now and what's going to be happening in the near future; and,
3 - switch from the Europe map to a pac map to a med map in a regular sequence so that even the peeps who don't pay attention to the schedule will have some idea of what's going on.
The big thing is to leave the dam map/scenario alone long enough for people to have their fun with it. This constant switching is a pain in the bellybutton and what it boils down to is it makes the CT arena into a "special events" arena without the benefit of being an actual "special event".
What ya figure - good idea?

I personaly like the revolving maps in the CT. It adds a bit more variety than I can find in the MA, and if I dont care for the plane set, I know it will change shortly. As far as starting over each time, it doesnt bother me much, as all perk planes are very cheap. But a compromise could be that you retain your perk points as the maps change.

Generaly speaking we experance a marked decrease in attendance toward the end of each week's set up.
Typicaly attendance raises considerably at the start of each set up.
We used to run set up's for 2 weeks at a time and this did not seam to work as well as the one week set up.
Alot of people do not care for say PAC set ups and look forward to the change to come in only a week, the same is true for some squads, who love pac set ups.
I personaly feal the one week set up change brings diversity, and the fealing that if you do not like this weeks set up well the next is only 7 days away.
New setups are posted mid week generaly, and although we would like to let you know earler it is dificult because map availability is a hard thing to nail down. We are always geting new maps(not as fast as we would like) and the one week schedual allows us to bring them to you.

You could not keep me out of the Tunisia map 1 month would be ok for this :) Planeset was well balanced even the odd P51 or P38 did not cause any real problems.
The Pac map totally unbalanced play from my perspective anyway as long as the USA planes pilit had half a brain he would be untouchable. 1 week was too long.
Current CT is ok for free time in those perkie beasts but i think 1 week will be more than enough for me anyway.

I think rather than leaving a setup up for a month. Come back and revisit setups that were popular. BOB and Tunesia both had great numbers and pretty good balance.
We should be running those 2 each month. Then you've got 2 slots open to test new setups.
Once a setup no longer gets play, pull it out of the lineup for a bit.
But thats just my opinion.

Not true. It's my opinion, too.

They may want to find some way to work Perdonia into the mix, too. I was initially cool to it because its not historically accurate, but it is a beautiful terrain and I get the best frame rates ever there.

I like em a week at a time.

Map's like Perdonia, Tunisia, BOB, are like our ace in the whole maps they will be run again in ssome cases have already, we want those maps to stay fresh not over use them you will see them again soon I should think, also NUTTZ is doing a little TLC on the Europe for us and some it's bug's should become History:)

Changing every week is too often. As a squad CO I need more time to organize. It's impossiable to anything in a week
Every two weeks would be fine.....

Changin' the roation ,IMHO , wont help attendence that much, CT is just not going to have the same amout of people as the MA. I like it the way it is. I reckon if you want attendence to go up, the hand out Brittany Spears posters and cheap beer to the goobers at the door:cool:
-
yep
keep them rotating
detch01
you just have to play more than once a week :)
-
What Ghosth said sure sounds good to me!
-
Otto whats to organize?
Get em all on the same side, pick a plane & loadout, pick a target, roll. Go have fun!
-
Good heavens, Ghosth, there I was all set to agree with you, then you come out with a comment like a short-attention-span fighter-pilot type! ;-)
What's to organise?!?! Routes, mission profiles, loadouts, fighter sweep/escort, alternative targets, making sure everyone has a map, clock that works and a clean pair of underpants so they won't embarass their Mums when they die... - anybody'd think you didn't fly in a dedicated bomber unit, Ghosth! ;-)

PS: Aye, have the Europe and Tunisia terrains in lots, then rotate the others and new ones in around them, say I. I'm also in favour of terrains being in for a couple of weeks at a time, because it gives time for us to learn from what ddnt work one week and try again the next before the setup changes.
-
ROFLMAO
No we arn't a dedicated bomber squad. We do it all, fighters, jabo, escort, low level, high level, Allies, Axis. We're junkyard mongrels & proud of it. :)

lol
Ghosth is a knife fighter at heart that is for sure. ;)
Personally I would like to see em run every two weeks. Of course if I flew "every day" I would want it changed every week.
If you guys track what maps you used (and when) then ask Ronni very sweetly, I bet she will run the numbers and let you know which ones were the most popular. :)
