A while back someone on this board posted a website that listed many common programs that could be running in a computer's background and what they do (and maybe how to disable them if necessary.) I tried to search this BBS, but could not find it. Same for a web search. Anyone here know of such a site? Would appreciate the help. (I have a few that run in the background that I have no idea what they do and what kind of resources they are taking up.)

Look for a thread called "Kazaa" in the O'Club.. it's on the second page I think.

Adaware software is provided by the Lavasoft.org web site. Good stuff to clean out your computer from spyware.

it's a list of application abbreviations used by windows for running processes.
(so you know what you can shut down with CTRL_ALT_DEL)
Pick the TASK LIST on the right side.
Then search by letter.

and Adware rules for getting that spyware outta your machine. But remember to run it after you surf the web each time because there's your machine probably gets more each time you are on the Internet.
