Title: Any word of new IJAAF fighters?
Post by: Mitsu on May 02, 2002, 08:58:09 PM
Hello,
we are gonna get the early-mid PAW plane sets in v1.10.

IJNAF has gotten A6M2.
They will have 3 fighters.

But what about IJAAF planes?
There is only 1 fighter, Ki-61-I-KAIc (Ki-61-I-Tei).

It is cool plane, but this one is heaviest in Ki-61-I series, it can't turn well like a Ki-43 "Hayabusa", and it can't climb and accelerate well like a Ki-44 "Shoki".

so, I propose to release one of three IJAAF fighters in next version to HTC.

Nakajima Ki-43 "Hayabusa"
(http://www.ah.wakwak.com/~mitsu/battoutai/images/Ki-43-III-ko.jpg)
64th Sentai, Ki-43-III-Ko

Ki-43-I...in service 1941
it fits early war.
Ki-43-II...in service 1942
it fits med war.
Ki-43-III...in service 1944
it fits late war.

Nakajima Ki-44 "Shoki"
(http://www.ah.wakwak.com/~mitsu/battoutai/images/Ki-44-II-hei.jpg)
Ki-44-II-Hei

Ki-44-I...in service 1942
it fits early war.
Ki-44-II...in service Nov 1942
it fits med-late war.

Kawasaki Ki-61 "Hien"
(http://www.ah.wakwak.com/~mitsu/battoutai/images/Ki-61-I-ko.jpg)
68th Sentai, Ki-61-I-Ko

Ki-61-I-Ko...in service Summer 1942
it fits early war.
Ki-61-I-Otsu...in service Summer 1943
it fits med-late war.
Ki-61-I-Hei...in service Sep 1943
it fits med-late war.
Ki-61-II-Kai...in service Sep 1944
it fits late war.
Ki-100-I... in service Mar 1945
it fits late war.

Note:
Ko, Otsu, Hei, Tei?
I used Japanese subtypes.
They're used officially in Imperial Japanese Army.

To see the detail, view the following link (thx FD!):
http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47106&highlight=petition

Oh, please, please tell us a hint.
We really need more IJAAF fighters!

sorry for poor english...

Thanks,
Mitsu

P.S
Pyro, I still remember that you said that you wanted to release Ki-44-II-Otsu (40mm rocket model) in beta period! :)

I rely hope and pray we get some more Japanese planes, we desperatly nead them in the CT, and they will add diversity in the MA.

 I have worn out my voice yelling from my soap box about the nead for more Japanese Strike/attack aircraft, Planes like the Grace and Randy for late war, and planes like the Nick for earler war.

 Also the Emily would do so much for the Game and the Japanese abaility to cunduct bombing sorties it would be a great help.

 At the very least we could use some varients of the Tony.

Were all Ki-44's equipped with the telescope-tube gunsight?  Seems like such a sight would be irritating to have to use.   I wonder how AH would model such a sight, should the Ki-44 be added.

Please guys, cant you use the US nicknames for the japANESE fighters? I really have no idea who those fighters are.

George, Oscar, Frank, Tony <-- names Ive heard, are they in there somwhere?
Title: Any word of new IJAAF fighters?
Post by: Urchin on May 03, 2002, 02:47:37 AM
Ki-43 Hayabusa was known as the oscar.
Ki-61 was the Tony
Ki-84 was the Frank
N1K2 was the George.

I think all those are right.

Don't know what the Allied name for the Ki-44 was, I'd like to have one though.  Along with the ki-43 II and the ki-84.

oscar = ki-43 = "hayabusa"
tojo = ki-44 = "shoki"
tony = ki-61 = "hien"
frank = ki-84 = "hayate"
jack = J2M = "raiden"

Guess we'll just have to wait and see though.

The Ki-44s which have a optical gunsight are as follows:

Ki-44-II-Otsu later production.
Ki-44-II-Hei.

Yes, we need the Ki-44-II-Hei, which in the USA is designated as the Ki-44-IIb like in my signature.  This was the most produced version of the Ki-44.  Four 12.7mm machine guns might not sound like very good firepower, but compared to other early/mid war IJAF fighters it is very good.

I think the Ki-44-II-Hei would make a superlative addition for 1.10 given the aircraft that have been announced so far.

I swear those wings look to me like they have a little forward sweep.

I think Shoki would be very interesting to fly, but I most look forward to seeing the Ki.84 in AH.    Sometimes I wonder if many in the AH community have as little regard for Japanese aircraft industry as did American and British war planners before WWII.
Can it be true though?   Aren't all AH flyers well-schooled in aviation history?

If it is not so, Hayate will teach them a painful lesson!

How about the Kawasaki Ki-100, which was the Ki-61 with a radial engine?  It was built right before the end of the war so there weren't very many, but a few of the books I have declare it the best JAAF plane put into service.  Otherwise, I'd sure like to have the Ki-84.

The Zero's where more maneuverable than the Corsairs.
Only thing was the Corsair could dive and get away fast, or make enough seperation to try and turn the fight around, or get away as the situation may warrant. As for the industry itself, I dunno. But I wouldn't say many AH pilots have little regard for Japanese planes.
