the cops finally got smart and worked out a real solution to the street racer problem here in portland.
the worked out a deal with P.I.R (portland intnl raceway) to let the kids race their cars there for $20 a night on friday nights.
win-win for everybody. the kids get to race on a real track and the rest of us dont have theem flipping their cars into our yards(ya, a couple months ago we actually had dumb-asses racing on a residential street, can't remember how old the little kid was they killed when they crashed into his yard and ran him down)

but as long as kids (and some older guys) have cars they are gonna race them so you are much better off giving them a safe place to do it than having the cops try to catch them (basicly it just ads more cars to the race)

Or the "shotgun-style" chrome tailpipe they usually have.

I make it a point to laugh at anyone who owns a car like that.  ESPECIALLY if they're retarded enough to think it's "fast".

no, im not rich, and i am going to earn my car. i dont even plan on getting it till im 18.

and about the fin on the car, yes, i have seen some really gay fins. one i saw on a pontiac...cant remember what kind, but was really toejamty, nothing at all was done except this 3 ft tall fin.

now, fins do help... you see, when the car is travleing at high speeds, the air tends to go under the car and lift it up, and a decent sized fin, along with a bumper or whatever it is...a body kit... can help it stay on the ground.

also, i dont plan on drinking and raceing in my $30,000 car that i earned.

and i do think street raceing can be dagnerouse, but, if its out in the middle of nowhere....

Considering that Honda Civics and Ford Probes and the like are front-wheel drive (not to mention incapable of reaching speeds high enough for the fin to make much of a difference), if those fins were there for aerodynamic reasons they'd also be putting a fin on the front.

No, they're just slapping 'em on there because they have poor taste in asthetics.  Any car (besides a late '60's Daytona/Superbird) with a huge fin = stupid.

If you want a fast car Joedirt, just go buy a new Z28. They'll cease production on F-bodies in Sept. of this year. Camaros and Firebirds are as stout as they have ever been, and fastest too I think. But as good as they are, they can't be produced if kids don't like 'em anymore, and apparently they don't like 'em. The kids who don't buy sport-utes buy their own version of fast cars-gay lil celicas with all kinds of add-on junk.

actually a good exhaust setup coupled with a few other basic mods can give you a good boost in HP

My 1996 Saturn SC2:
Injen cool air intake
hotshot ceramic coated headers
sps cat back exhaust with dynomax muffler
15" jax light 12lb. wheels - goodyear p195/(205s in back)60R15 radials
custom cut short shifter
sps front tower brace
sps rear 17.5mm anti-swaybar
kyb struts
eibach springs

my little rocket smokes most civics out there. you're right, those guys think they can add a huge muffler on there that make their car sound like a gocart and they think they'll get 50hp out of it. no one ever teaches them the basics on how an engine works regarding airflow.

I prolly get about an extra 20hp or so, havent run dyno tests on it yet but even that feels like a hell of a lot because saturns are like fieros - light as hell with that composite body. only 2400 pounds.

sorry but i think ponys are gay and are not fast. Well newer mustangs (1990-now). if you are going to get a street racer have some class and get a classic muscle car and sup it up. I hate these kids who buy a new mustang 5.0 off the lot and try to race with them.
YOU JUST LOOK FOOLISH!

I have friends who sup up there mustangs,  and i just let them talk about it. but in the back of my head i am laughing at them.
"so U think your a racer and try to out run all other ponys just makes you look dumb and wast tires."

Do you "street racers" think you will get a chick by flooring your car at street lights and acting all bad ass? let me know in 5 years if any girl cares if you own a fast car.

I own a 1989 mustang because it was $1000 and i use it as a winter beater. I hate the thing so much i dont put any oil in the damn thing, it leaks 2qts of oil a week. I have a pan under the car to catch the oil so i can put the black thick toejam back in the car. The only thing i do to the car is put gas in it.
I even have studmuffins try to race me at street lights in my 4 banger LX. i think sure race me let the cop at the corner catch you you dumb horse turd.

I also own a 1968 falcon and im restoring a 1961 london austin taxi.

I do not street race, but I do Drag Race. Since I make my living as an engine builder (I own a race engine shop), I play all the time. I own a 1984 Buick TType Regal 3.8 V6 Turbo, a 1983 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a 500 horsepower 455, a 4 speed automatic and 4.11:1 locker rear, and a 1970 Chevy K30 4X4 with a 500 horsepower 468. I drive a 98 Firebird with the 3800 Series II V6. Hopefully in a couple years I'll find a nice 53 Studebaker for my nasty project.

Got some real neat toys in the shop right now, including a 406 Rodeck Chevy that makes 780 horsepower, and a 3.8 Buick V6 turbo that will make about 575 or more. There's also a Saleen Mustang (89 model) with a Paxton VR2 and Trick Flow heads and intake on a blueprinted 302.

I'm still hoping to move up to a pair of turbocharged Allisons and the proper plane attached. One of these days I'll make it.

Murfreesboro. No, I stay away from street rods now. No, sometimes we go to the muscle car/ street mechine event in April. Mostly I'm too busy working, and dealing with racing at the track. Having cars running on dirt, asphalt, and drag strips keeps me busy.

I'd cream you all with my Nissan Micra -97 1.0 Avec. Sixty cubic inches of absolute power (totalling at 55HP, that is). Just a little tweaking and I can make 0-60 MPH in less than infinite time.

Seriously, the Micra is extremely fun to drive. Installing a powerful engine in one would make for a nice and very quick ride (the whole thing weighs about 2000 lbs). Like at the UK Micra Sports Club (http://www.micra.org.uk/) where they have 140BHP Micra K10 (that's 140BHP from a 57 cid engine, quite an achievement). Engine like that in a car an inconspicous as the Micra would make for some very good opportunities to embarass other people :D

yes. but we kept it eh hem.... "safe."

we took it out on the highway away from pedestrians.  The highway we race on is rather deserted in the evening...no pedestrians or innocent bystanders.  The racers range in age from 16 to 50 and cars from dumb assed Cavaliers to 700 HP muscle cars.

In June last year, I was >< close (had the check for downpayment written out!) to buying a 2002 Cobra SVT...however my requirements were to be able to have 2 jumper seats in the back seat with room for legs...there wasn't even room for childrens legs in the Cobra's backseat..and the fact that my head rested firmly on the door jam regardless of seat position finally swayed my opinion away from the Cobra.

Ah.. thanks for the link.  His page changed location and I didn't know the new URL.  Everybody has to stop by at least to check out the Diablo story (http://www.riceboypage.com/shame/hall_of_shame_8/hallofshame8.html)(at bottom of page)... it spurned this incredible response from the driver:
Quote
Guesss who i am ? Im the guy with the Diablo SV that you unauthorisingly took a picture of.....and since your such a little jelous peon like many people i encounter....proceded too just talk alota inaccurate toejam about.....because your whole aim was too just try too cut down somebody who you know your not equal too.....and probably never have a life compared too mine....especially at my young age of 25.
First off.....if you had any dignity which you obviously dont....because you have a website dedicated too ridiculing people......you would tell the whole story.

If your a regular at the Autocross events.....you should know that i have attended several times.....and the time and photo you posted are accurate of my first run on a track that i just arrived at....with no walk through....and taking it easy the first couple times around.

If you payed any attention.....im sure you know how my times basically dropped about 10-15 seconds the 2nd time around.....and proceded too get dramitically better of 4-8 seconds for the next several times.

Im probably wasting my time telling you this.....you probably know damn well how much my times improved....and how the things you said was only aimed at slandering me because of your sorry little poor life......and not being honest.

You can bet....its not a good thing too have very rich people who know many other people too be on their bad side.

I challenge you too put up my letter alongside your comments.......in uncensored form.......but you probably wont.....because your whole aim is too talk toejam.....and toejam is all your full of !

Sincerally,

Mr.Diablo

P.S. Dont bother replying......your email will be deleted as soon as i receive it.....because its probably full of toejam also.

JoeDirt, perhaps you need a lesson in reality.

A Subaru WRX outracing a Corvette? Are you nucking futs? Or just stupid? There's the basic starting point of the Corvette having a better power-to-weight ratio than the WRX, but wait - it gets better! Perhaps you've heard the words "transfer of weight" or "transfer of power" before? Lemme explain it in simple terms for ya. Corvette: Hit the gas, and the acceleration is going to put most of the weight over the rear wheels. The rear wheels are the drive wheels. Result? Better friction for drive wheels. Better acceleration, and better speed. Impreza WRX: All-wheel drive. Which means, what? That only 40% of the power is on the back wheels, which makes it far less able to take advantage of weight-transfer than the 'Vette. At least it has some power on the rear wheel.

Don't get me wrong, the WRX is a great car, but a better performance vehicle than the Corvette? Puh-lease .

It's for that reason that massive wings are so wasted on FWD and AWD cars. Makes them look stupider than they are already, since it essentially amounts to a massive neon sign reading "MORON" in twenty-foot high letters.

Real easy for ya: FWD - very practical, more efficiency, better mileage, safer in slippery conditions. RWD - Better for power, takes advantage of weight transfer, better in a racing vehicle for controlling slides through turns, oversteer specifically. AWD - Safest in bad weather conditions. Not so fuel efficient.

And ya know, that riceboy site guy may be an amazinhunk, but at least he isn't an idiot.

Hell, I know where I stand, at least. My first car will probably be a Geo Metro hatchback. Either that or a Honda Civic hatchback. I firmly occupy the bottom of the totem pole here ;).

So what, JoeDirt? Let's see here. Under the hood of the WRX we have a little horizontally opposed 1.9 liter 4-banger that generates 227 hp at 6000 revs and 217 lb-ft of torque at 4000 revs, stock. (2002 model)

Corvette? *Ahem*. This car has a 5.7 liter V8 engine that generates a maximum of 350 horsepower. Sorry, I couldn't find numbers on the torque, but it's in the 300 lb-ft range, plus. Plus, it has rear wheel drive. This is all stock, again, 2002 model.

Now try to explain to me how there is any way in hell that this guy could "supe up" his little WRX to come anywhere near a stock Corvette? Even if it were possible to make that poor little four cylinder generate the one hundred and twenty-three  additional horsepower it would need to only close the gap that the two cars have in performance, there is still a weight-transfer problem. It's also worth noting that all-wheel drive is going to rob more horsepower from the raw specs than rear-wheel drive will. But then, have you ever heard of a 4 cylinder, 1.9 liter engine that could generate 350 hp? If so, please tell me. And then prove it, because I find it impossible to believe that any amount of mods could give such a massive boost in performance.

There is only one possible way your pal could have won that race: He is really good, and the guy driving the 'Vette really, and I mean really sucks.

Capt. Virgil Hilts

I have an 84 Regal T-Type also. Was planning to restore it (to an extent) and part of the process was to rebuild the original engine.  Where are you located - got a brocure? - web site?

Thanks,

Bonden   :)
