points damage is totally unrealistic...but it's the only way to simulate hits with some degree of accuracy. I assume that each part of the plane gets a certain number of points and then it gets damaged.
I read that in WB3 they were implementing a damage model in which a bullet is tracked as it hits various parts of the airplane and so the damage would be more realistic. Do we have this in aces high?

Umm.. I think the news was that WB3 was going to track EVERY bullet... not that they were going to see where it hit and assign damage apropriately. Until recently, they only modeled a % of bullets fired... then used a multiplier to simulate a few before and after it hitting too.
AH has modeled each bullet since it was started. They track where it hits your plane and assign damage accordingly.
