Title: Kamikaze perk points?
Post by: Sturm on March 13, 2001, 11:01:00 AM
What if they doubled the perk points for a zeke armed with a bomb if it kamikazed into a ship you can get double the perk points, triple if you actually sink it.  Would have to select it in the hanger for what type of mission, for kicks we will call it "You be crazy"!!  We want realism why not this?  I am thinking Baka right now carried into battle by a Ki-67 which i am sure they will make.  Or you could have it were the parent aircraft goes into auto pilot while you guide your rocket to the earth searching for the fleet.  With this baby there is no go around for second attack.  But I can see it now everyone grabbing a zero and headoing for the fleets.  Side note ack gunners tear the watermelon out of the zeke rather easily, would remind me of all the footage I have seen on the history channel.  Think about it in this way as well, with their intent so focused on hitting the carrier shooting down zeke's would be like a turkey shoot.

The kamikaze one-way planes were extremely inefficient just because there was no way for pilots to train in them. Things associated with high speed like compressibility, buffeting and controls lock and dive took them by surprise.
That would not be the case with AH pilots who live and learn and have the off-line mode. Our kamikaze would be almost 100% effective.

A well defended fleet with a lil air cover can handle quite a few AC.  Had 7 of us in AA mounts and 5 escorts flying cap, we repulsed attack after attack was very intense sky was completely black from AA fire.  Worth a try though zeke is not exactly durable and fast.  The baka would be interesting though.

60 plus ships, in less than 6 months, you mean.  It was a very efficient use of resources, if not a pleasant aspect of the war.

Online Tai'atari is not so easy as you would think; when we ran it as an SL, less than 50%, way less actually, hit their target with their plane.

 I agree 100% with Raubvogel.
Kamikaze attacks take no skill what so ever and it would be the the ultimate form of dweebery, imNSHo.  More so even than the "Rocketeer" crap seen in Fighter Ace.

and why not? Only one addition - after commiting suicide you will be forced to change your handle and open a new account with HTC. Just joking, but that would really spoil the fun of CV.

I agree with Dmitri.  If we want to make this "real", then why would the pilot get the points?  He just died.  But, I think that htc should assign perk points to be given to everyone else flying on that side to spead evenly. The real pilots only had one chance to get it right, and the outcome didn't affect them in any way....
I wouldn't mind kamikazee points, but just as in real life, maybe the one guy should take it for the team...   (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Do the perk points go to your widow or next of kin??  They must, since you aren't around anymore to use them  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

 A typical evening:

NHcouger says: omw to hit cv, in a buff

5min latter CV is sunk we all cheer...

We sink CV's all the freaking time it is easy to do. if they made the ack harder to fly through instead the eye candy it is now a weapon like the BAKA would make a little more since u would half to try and actually fly into the Cv and if memory serves they a sweety to fly.O did I mention that when we sink a CV we usually die right after doing it...so what's the difference? what's the message?

Don't we already suffer from this style of attack in the MA... I can't count the number of suicide hanger plunges I've seen in the last week... C-Hog, guns blazing, rockets firing, bombs falling off, right into a hanger with NO attempt to pull up.

What's the difference?

Maybe you would only get the credit if it were a certain Japanese plane, or maybe you would have to select something before augering, I don't know.  Maybe there shold be perk point penalties for not landing correctly (if your shot down, -a point.  If you auger with no shots fired into you, -3 points)
Just thoughts....

Though.. its just not right drinking to the memory of someone that gave his life fighting for his country and actually having him be there drinking with you.

Basically, giving points to someone for acheiving a statistical goal at the risk of having to instantly re-plane at the tower seems a bit silly.
