I have tried pretty hard, locally to find info on the subject, but it is slim pickings(like nothing).
The info I need is what the different Soviet WWII designations mean, primarily in relation to what type aircraft they would fly.
For Example, IAP would fly fighter planes, but would they also fly ground attack?
As you may be able to guess, I need the info for the missions I build in IL2. Currently, I guess at it, but I would prefer to use the right designations. Using the actual correct aircraft in the correct area flying with the proper unit is only a dream, from what I have been able to find.

I don't have full list of such abbreviations. In general it would be something like :
IA - fighter (I), aerial (A)
ShA - strike (shturmovik)
TA - heavy - bombers... or transport :)
SA - mixed of 3 above (pretty rare I guess)
RA - reconnaissance - fighters or bombers
And last letter designates size of the unit: P for regiment, A for army, D for division...
