best sandwich i like is: toast with crunchy peanut butter and honey. yummmmmmmmm!
-
whipped cream, and blond (bread optional)
-
Pastrami and Swiss, with Mustard Pickels and Olives. I wish I had a joke or a troll, but sandwiches are far to serious a part of my life.
-Sikboy
-
Yeah, SikBoy, I agree. There are some issues that are too serious to troll or make jokes about, and sandwiches and beer are among those. Thanks for showing such sensitivity.
There's a deli here that serves a Pastrami Sandwich with cream cheese and a strip of bacon on it. Man o man, it is too good. Plus they have Mendocino Brewing Co.'s Eye Of The Hawk on tap, of which there is no finer ale.
-
swiss cheese, liverwurst, olives and roast beef in roasted white hoagie bread and bacon bits inside.
Nothing beats that.

blonde-wolfgang-brunette :)

funny, I actually have some PBJs with me today! (extra crunchy PBJ and raspberry jam to be precise)
fav sandwich? too many to pick from. Cubans are a treat tho. mmm, roast beef po' boys. I'm talking the sloppy roast beef in gravy... have that with a bowl of jambalaya...

A nice MLT... mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich where the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomato is ripe....they're so perky. I love that. (http://www.netaxs.com/people/dgresh/prbride/mlt.wav)
-
Well, you can 'go for broke' ala Dagwood, or keep it simple. One of my favorite 'simple' sandwiches - Good hard italian salami - Fontina cheese - mayo (good mayo..never ever use Miracle Whip or fat free mayo) on any good crusty italian bread.
Now I'm hungry!!!!

Hmmm, so you like being the meat in the sandwich Wolfgang? :)

Now, if this were a Burger thread, the Double Double would have my "Best mass produced hamberger" vote. In fact, if given the choice today of having a Double Double or any other sandwich, I'd probably go with the Double Double. but that's because I live in Maryland, and I'm homesick lol.
But seriously, if anyone is visiting California (or Vegas), go to In-N-Out at least once.

Jif Extra-Crunchy Peanut Butter with Kraft Mayo, ripe bananas, and Lay's ridged potato chips.

Hmmm, we don't have In-N-Out Burgers up here in Oregon, but I'm making a trip down to Cali with a few friends on the 16th, and after doing the research have found that there's one along the way in Redding. Is it worth stopping Funked? I trust your gut, so lay it on me strait, brother! :D

SOB they rock. You will not find a better drive-thru burger. The fries are great too.
Don't forget to ask for pickles and grilled onions.
If a double-double is not enough for you then go for the 4 by 4. :)
They serve a lot of stuff that is not officially on the menu: http://www.tiburon-belvedere.com/cgi/home.cgi?c=In_N_Out

REUBEN!! ...or is that rueben?
Stupid sandwich story: Went to Fuddruckers (kickbutt burger joint) in Riyadh Saudi Arabia with a bunch of coworkers (including one idiot... err, besides me). I was already irked at going to an American joint to eat with all the other really good stuff over there. Anyway, idiot orders the Bacon Mushroom Burger. Idiot proceeds to eat and discovers the bacon is TERRIBLE. As a matter of fact, it's a DISK of meat with most of the characteristics of shoe leather lol. Idiot then proceeds up to the counter and goes off on a tirade about them giving him FAKE BACON on his Burger. Ahem... in Saudi Arabia. (Get it? lol)

SOB I actually like their freshly made grilled buns so much that I order singles. :)
But really, buff dudes like us should stick with the 4x4, high protein and all that.

Tumor LOL!
BTW it's Reuben. :)

My favorite sandwich is a deerburger, made the way I was taught to make them by a friend of mine in college. They are super unhealthy like this (we used to joke that each one you ate took 1 year off your life, but that cant be true or I would be dead long ago!) but the taste is out of this world good. They are simple to make, just take hamburger pattys made from deer ground meat, and fry them in a skillet that is awash with a whole stick or two of butter. Just before you take it out, drop the hamburger buns in there so they get nice and buttery too, and drop a slab of sharp cheddar cheese, on top of the meat. Put it all together and eat it while its still hot. Man I can eat those all night. First time I ever had it, I ate like 6 of them. They remind me of those "sliders" that you can get at that fast food franchise up north (white castle or something like that?). They are so greasy they just slide right down, and deer meat has better flavor than beef.

Don't dare disrespect White Castle.

Was this some sort of preemptive fast food defense?

My hippie pinko vegetarian daughter goes to In n Out and buys the "Air Burger". All the fixins except the meat. Really!
-
I had White Castle once. We went to pick my friend up at the airport. 5 guys in a Mercury Gran Marquis. We roll up to White Castle and order a bunch of stuff. Not bad, not great, definitely edible. Very salty. By the time we get back to the hotel, all 5 of us have abdominal cramping and horrendous gas. The car smelled of sulfur and chopped onions for 5 days. :)

Take two boneless, skinless chicken breasts or chicken strips and cook until they are done- cooking on medium heat the entire time.
Press a fork into them to soften them up (not vertically and making holes.. hold it parallell to the chicken and push down to sort of break it up)... pour in a mix of Italian salad dressing and montreal chicken shake (or whatever it's called... they make it for steak too) (make sure it's still on medium heat), let it cook itself for a good 2 minutes and flip sides- cook for another 2 minutes.
Toast some bread, throw some cheese down on the bread and the chicken on top.

In drawn butter, I sautee a nicely marbled round of veal tenderloin just to the point where it becomes transluscent. I set that aside and begin a rue of the butter, pearl onions, capers and stone ground rye gluten. Into the rue, I add fresh, chopped sweetbreads. Simmer for no more than 4 minutes.
Try to get the freshest, crusty French bread available. Split it open with a sharp bread knife, and dust the interior with finely ground Oregano. Place the sauteed veal into the bread and gently spoon the sweetbreads onto the meat, being carefull to cover it entirely. Then toss that whole freaking thing into the garbage and make a bologna sandwich with 3 slices of bologna on soft white bread - plain with no condiments. A cold beer goes good with it.

Yes...yes it is.

Sliced turkey with homemade Habanero pepper jelly on whole wheat. Great cold.

Try Mule Deer from the Big Belt Mtns in MT (any Mtns I'd wager). Ever try tree bark? Somewhat similar.

Oh... I wouldn't rate it that high.
Of course... It's nowhere near as funny as http://www.campchaos.com/cartoons/napsterbad/napsterbad_se.html

American cheese on an Italian Hogie is downright sinful. American cheese is only good for kiddy snacks and bait.
