Title: USAF will now allow 100% tuition assistance
Post by: -ammo- on May 09, 2002, 07:22:52 AM
For those folks considering military service here is some good news.  Effective 1 Oct 02, the USAF  will pay 100% of tuition costs and all fees required for enrollment, not to exceed $250.00 per semester hour, with an annual cap of $4,500.

Now that is in addition to the GI bill which an airman can elect to take.

IMO, that is an excellent deal!  Nows a great time to pursue a degree if you are in the USAF.

Wish they offered this stuff back when I was in the Air Guard, and pondering going full time

But, since when has the USAF been ahead of the times in terms of personnel  :D

What I hated about the GI Bill is my tuition was due Sept 1.  They paid $160 every month...when I would have really liked a lump sum, when tuition was due.  Maybe that's improved since 1994  :)

LePaul, I got 210.00 a month for the GI Bill in the early 70s. It kept me in beer money while I skipped classes and screwed off for a few years.

UPS in Louisville Kentucky will pay 100% of your college tuition, and you only have to give 3 hours a night to UPS, not your life.

Hi Oct, here is the official press release. http://www.af.mil/news/n20020508_0745.shtml

FDiron, Military service certainly isn't for everyone.  Folks that are willing to sacrifice and are thinking more of country than self are better suited.  Folks that are primarily "self-oriented" should choose other avenues.

14 years of AD USAF for me, and I will not complain.

I was in the USAF from '82 -'86 and they didn't pay a penny of my College.

Not sure what was going on back then but they stopped a few programs for a few weeks then started them back.
