Title: AGP Fast Writes
Post by: weazel on May 09, 2002, 10:47:51 PM
I flashed my ECS K7S5A with a modified BIOS today that enabled AGP fast writes, FPS on the CV deck went up 10-12 FPS and smoke and clouds don't slow it down as much.   :D

I find it odd that I'm running 133 FSB@1 GHZ now and have better performance than with 138 FSB@1033 MHZ before I flashed, all the reviews I've read stated that fast writes usually hurt performance, I guess the SiS chipset is the exception to the rule?

All hangers, ammo and fuel bunkers were smoking and I still had 44 FPS as long as I stayed out of the smoke columns.... and look how nice 4XS FSAA looks, not bad for $81.00.

Weird, according to various hardware sites which performed comparison tests AGP fastwrite shouldn't give you any notable performance gain... (neither does AGPx4 over AGPx2, btw). But if it helps you... it helps you... :)
