so now what? "I'll trade you a bin laden rookie card, 2 suicide bombers and an abdul with his head missing for your twin-towers card and a USMC sniper"
-
Yes.
See this thread (http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52993)

Americans are known for many accomplishments . Good taste is not one of them.
-
Why are you looking for good taste at a 7 -11?:p

You got to be F**king joking, sandman.
Having said that, I do remember the Desert Storm cards when I was a kid.
It's just not funny.

I think they are funny.

Look at the site (http://www.topps.com/enduringfreedom.html).
You can get the entire set!
Imagine the thrill of opening up the foil wrapper and finding #1, the Title Card... Pause, and sigh when you look at the absolute beauty of New York Harbor before September 11 on card #2.
I tell ya... I teared up when I looked at card #6, "Bush Embraces New York's Rescue Workers."
Card #50, "F-16C Fighting Falcon Fires A Weapon" is a beauty. A fine picture of what the "tip of the sword" looks like.
By gawd... You need a set of these cards. Show your patriotism! It's not enough to simply fly a flag on your house and have a minimum of two U.S. flag stickers and/or flags on your vehicle. Show your patriotism! Support the fine AMERICAN workers at Topps, Inc.
Anything less and you might as well be a Palestine sympathizer...

I heard TOPS is going to release a "Canadian Sniper Trophies" collection too.

What! No dead ragheads. I want dead raghead cards.
-
"Have We Lost Sight Of Good Taste" is the thread..."Dead Ragheads" is the comment from Easyho... Yes, I would say we have lost sight of good taste.
-
My supervisor from my submarine actually gave me some Desert Storm cards (duplicates leftover from his complete collection). I still have them. There is nothing Americans don't commercialize. I am sure there is a serial killer line of collectibles out there somewhere.
-
I think it trivialises the whole thing.
I'm sure the relatives of dead servicemen find the cards a great tribute to their loved ones.
"Yes son, your father died in Iraq during the Gulf War. Here are some collectible cards you can pin to your wall."
I think it sucks.
-
ya, I agree dowding.
It makes the whole thing seem like just some other form of TV entertainment.
It paints this war as something fun, cool, entertaining, etc
I do think this war is necessary, but I sure don't want my kids seeing it as a spectacle for their entertainment.

How about some action figures (http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/serialkillers_figures020325.html)
:(

If there is a good point about all of this, it is this:
These cards, if I understand correctly, contain not only pictures, but also biographic and technical data on the people and equiptment dipicted.
I'm not sure if it completely offsets the trivialisation of the situation, But providing young people with an easy to understand medium with wich to present this information seems like an ok idea to me. Now, if there were a Pokemon style card game, well, that's a different story lol.

Trading cards are retarded.

I would expect nothing less. Though I fully understand the sculptors attitude: TV shows and books are making a "killing" from glamorizing these monsters, so why can't he? If you can't beat them... join them? I wonder how much of a sellout I will be 20 or 30 years from now if I live that long in this nightmare world?
