Dale , Pyro, While using the .target function I noticed something a little strange and I'm not sure if its the target function or ballistics modeling. This is what I see and maybe others can take a look also. Cannon rounds on aircraft equiped with machine guns, I have all of them set to 400 yards and this is what I see the MG's are on target all the way from 50 yards to 400 yards and then start droping off, the cannons are low and climb to 400 yards and then fall off, seems to me the cannons should be significantly higher at 50 yards and fall on to target at 400 yards and continue droping, regardless of muzzel velocity it just seems wrong for the cannon rounds to be low at 50 yards when converged for 400 yards? Agree or disagree??:p

This thread got me thinking that it would be nice to have a "six view" of an aircraft painted on the target we can "pop up" to view our various convergence settings. Scale based on distance would be required and selectable aircraft would be nice.
How about it HTC?

the cannons are mounted in the wings.. the MG's significantly higher in the engine cowling... I am assuming u in an FW...

He is right- this is strange.
The cannons start lower and work up to the conv. Yet the MG work ok. Maybe there is a bug in the way dispersion is throwing the rounds?

Cannon are firing from a lower point than MG's...
Try comparing the wing cannon of the A8 (20mm) to the cowling cannon of the F8 and see what results you get

A P-51's wingspan is roughly the second ring. This is the case at all distances. This image is one of the off-line P-51's at maximum magnification. The target superimposed is at 200 at maximum magnification.

Regardless of wing or cowl mounted the cannon round should be well on its way of climbing the arc to get to the 400 yard covergence at 50 yards, for a heavy round you gotta get it up in the air to drop on the convergence point, I've never seen an instance where the heavy round would stay below the lighter MG round and then rise to the convergence point. Maybe Tony Williams could address this, goes against everything I was taught about gunnery in the Army.

A while back, somebody posted a graph of the varying trajectories of an FW's weapons. I think this illustration might clear things up a bit. By the way Tyro could you please be more specific? Exactly what plane(s) do you see this in?
