Need a quality mobo for a AMD XP 2100+. Been reading lots of stuff but any advice would be nice.
Also ram advice as well. I am interested in quality more then price.
was thinking Corsair CMX PC2700 CAS-2.
Anyway thanks in advance

Just my opinion but I'd go SiS long before I'd build anything with a VIA chipset.
Corsair is good RAM

Personally, I'm giving nForce a shot. I like the built-in sound that's decent quality and the lowest CPU utilization I've seen along with built-in network. Plus, I'm betting it will not have any conflict issues with an nVidia video card. :)
Not what you want if you plan to OC though.

I'm using a Soyo K7V Dragon+ (VIA chipset) and loving it. Should be putting a GeForce 4 Ti4600 in it next week sometime, and adding another 512M of RAM in the next couple days.
Runs like a charm.
YMMV, of course.

I recently slapped a new rig together using an MSI K7T266 Pro2 mobo and it screams. It's a good board, will take an XP 1800+ right out of the box (2000+ w/BIOS flash), and 3 gigs of DDR. My sole gripe, aside from the AC97 audio, is the board's intelligence. I had to plug everything in, boot it up, let Winblows try figuring out everything and fail, then shut down, unplug and replug everything, reboot, and THEN it worked. While it may be an older board (2001 model), the thing just runs right along. I dropped a 900MHZ T-bird along with a 128 meg stick of Samsung DDR (PC2700) in it. It comes with a D-bracket (diagnostic lights) that has two USB 1.1 jacks built-in, plus the two on the board itself. Just don't use the built-in audio, or the gameport; both of 'em have an attitude. Especially when you *cough* accidently install the wrong driver. Things get to sounding strange in a hurry!
