Title: How about a variation to the Perk system?
Post by: LePaul on April 23, 2001, 02:48:00 PM
Someone mentioned this across the chat buffer a few nights ago and I thought for sure I'd see it discussed at length here.  But, since I do not see it discussed, here goes...

One of the biggest problems I have with the Perk system is newbies, or people that do not dedicate hours to the game, are not *allowed* to fly some aircraft.  I do not like any game that disallows all the benefits of being a paying participant.  Its been argued if the Perk Planes were all free, it would be all day/all night Tempests and Arados.  I disagree and I think those that are regular readers of my posts know my reasoning.

So, what I propose is making the Perk Planes available to all....BUT...TWO per day, after that, you pay.  That's right, welcome to the game Mr Newbie, step up and try the Ta-152...but bewarned, if Laz and his C-Hog turn you into metal confetti, you only have more left and after that, you're dipping into the Perk Points or, try again tomorrow.

This proposal allows everyone to fly ALL the aircraft yet allow restrictions so that its not ALL the users would use.

That's my suggestion, I'll let you guys chime in and voice your opinions.

The perk planes are available in the training-, dueling- and special events arena as well as H2H and offline, for free.

That said, I see your point. But atleast now the newcomers have something to aim for, and maybe that will encourage them to sign up after their free 2 week trial.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

I'd ammend that to include any kills in the "free" perk plane do not count towards score in any way.. the kills and deaths do not register anywhere that is tracked by the current score system.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I dont mind this either.  especially since I never ever cared about my score to begin with. 2 Flights a night would keep me happy (thats all I'd have time for anyway).  Even if I made it back without a scratch and still had to use the 2nd perk plane for the day to fly it again.

I still think that the perk system should be done away with.  and pry always will.

I suppose I could live with that...so long as whoever knocks them out of the air isnt denied whatever points are associated with that aircraft.

Its one thing to fly these H2H or in the Training Room.  Its another to see them in use in the larger, more hostile and dynamic environment the Main Arena offers.
