Title: Who wanted the Val? I DID!
Post by: Swoop on May 14, 2002, 01:40:26 PM
In fact I want every plane ever to fly in WW2!

I dont care what order they add planes, I just want all of em!  Every single one (including the Brewster).  I'll never complain that HTC added a plane, I'll never whine that another plane would have been a better choice........cos I'm living in a dream world where, eventually, the guys will get around to adding EVERYTHING.

*breaks out pom poms*

Er.....

*puts em away again and pretends not to even know what a pom pom is*

As you were.

I would like to think that HTC is not wasting all this time on planes that5 can't/won't be used in the main where all the players are. I certainly hope that they have an idea for letting these planes into the main... with some sort of parity.

I wanted a Japanese CV bomber.  Val fits that role.  I couldn't care less about the playpen err MA.  MA is just a place to practice for scenarios, the REAL AH.  :)

that is fine funked but.... You will admit that the majority of the players live in the MSA and for the majority of them, in the MA's present form..... the val is pretty much a waste.

Aces High isnt just about the MA, and its cool to see it evolve into other areas. It only makes sense that the planeset is rounding out. There are already plenty of a/c to fly in the MA, its the TODs and other events that need more a/c.

I logged on to Air Warrior in 1995 and found the 3 sided A, B, C land arena a complete pointless bore.

Warbirds in 1996, Red, Green, Purple, Gold MA, that got stale after about an hour.

Aces High MA. Gee, 3 sided 1945 everlife war, zzzzz.

Anyways, im looking forward to more events in AH like there were in Warbirds and AW, where its one life per frame, you are supposed to rtb, there are bombers to escort or intercept, and the icons dont give you away at 3 miles, and there are squads using wing tactics.

Is there anything wrong with that? I dont think so. Each to their own, there will always be an MA im sure, so dont despair. Its about expanded choices, thats all.

Just one "re enacters" opinion.

Regards.

I would hope that they have some plan for early war planes to be useful in the MA where most people live in AH.

Why would they restrict someone to fly their favorite aircraft?  The MA is for the fantasy "Fly anything you'd like" arena (except for the obvious perks).  Its the RR of AH like Funked said.  I enjoy it, but not as much as I do the CT or the Scenarios.  If you want a RPS, go back to Warbirds Laz (though you managed to burn every bridge you ever had in that community too)

Whos judgement do I trust as to what is the NEXT plane to design and implement - The MASSES or the Designers ?

Designers ALL THE WAY !

If you want PARITY - Just make all the planes the SAME but different colors for the different countries - have all planes majically appear at full speed at 2OK alt and let them go at it.

Not sure what you mean by "hope they have an idea for letting these planes into the main arean" ? ?

If someone wants to fly and die in a VAL in the MA - why not let them ?

Your Milage may vary.

I sooo wanted the Val.  In  fact, I'm a pretty happy camper right now.  Once upon a time, I had my "short list" of desired airplanes in my .sig.  They were:

P-40
D3A
F4F
B5N

and a map of Oahu.

NUTTZ has taken care of the last, HTC has taken care of the first three.  If they get to the Kate, fine, if not, fine.

I don't really care what they add next, I just hope they add the P61 LAST.  :p

People fly the Me109E-4 in MA

+ People fly the Hurricane IID in MA

+ People fly the TBM in MA

= People WILL fly the Val in MA

Usefullness dosen't matter

Variety and fun are the key words

I didn't ask for it, but i surely won't whine.
It's a good addition for the japanese plane set wich did not have much planes so it is very right to do.

Useless or not that depents on the pilot in it IMHO
Any guy/girl saying it's useless is just an unskilled dweeb with no imagination (wich comes together with the brains).

And i have great trust HTC will not forget our silly dweeb P38 souls
wich struggles with 1 type P38 from the first version
And learned to fly the thing against all odds.

gee rip... you mean that they wouldn't take my money at WB?   Or maybe yu mean they would what??? be mean to me??   Geeze they no doubt think you are a bigger ahole over there than they do me.   You look like a vapid cheerleader to em.

And who gave you or funked the right to define what the MA is?  You are entitled to your opinion but... Using your own logic.. shouldn't you let the designers decide what the MA is?

There are ways to let the early war planes in the MA and still have parity and still allow everyone to fly any plane he likes.   The "area" arena idea is one way.  Maps that toggle between seperate MA's is another..

I would imagine that HTC has given the matter some thought of their own and have some ideas on how to do it.   I can't imagine that they would leave a whole period of WWII out of the MA.

The Val doesn't pack much of a punch, but I do see it as being a viable aircraft to defend a vulched field when all the FH's are down yet bombers are still able to up.  Get someone with you to gun in the back and with its maneuverability, I'm guessing we may see it used as such at times.

I'm anxious to see what it'll be like in the MA flying the F4F or P-40.  Another guess of mine is that I won't be able to go too deep into enemy territory but I can probably deal with a near fight with a lot of friendlies involved.  Anyone dares to slow down with me to turn with me and WHam!, someone else will get him.

I'm really glad to see some early-war Pacific aircraft.
