I got to thinking and I thought of some neat graphical and gameplay features.
Contrails of all planes at high altitudes
Dark exauhst from the Arado's engines (someone already brought this up)
Visible heat waves behind Ar 234's engines
Jet wash (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)
The ability to damage individual instraments and the radio
Puffs of smoke and audio changes with slightly/moderatly damaged engines
The ability to ignite the fuel stream of an aircraft if they're leaking (BOOM)
Engine fires
Canopy obscured by oil and fuel

I agree, im hoping HTC is concerntraing on the gameplay stuff right now and will eventually beef up the eye candy.
What I would like is to see ships treated like fields..as in they have damagable structures. You could bomb a gun on the cruiser and it would smoke and there would visable damage..ets
Contrails and exhaust would be a nic touch too.

I'd love to see some more eye candy. The people still playing on 486s cant expect the rest of the world to wait on them forever. I'd really like to see eye candy focused on more realistic terrain.

Altho I'd like to see eye candy improving, I think I'd rather like more planes. In particular, I'm keen on seeing the whole latewar planeset complete, so they have no excuses to introduce early war planes, of course for scenarios. (j/k)
Cheers,

Would be nice to have some gameplay features added to help at night too.
Exhaust fumes (flames?) would help identify planes.
Metall surfaces glinting in the moonlight. B-17's and P-51's would be affected, but HTC could add a night camoflage for the B-17 that the british used while flying them.

Hmmmmm
well, I think if we want some REALLY cool Graphics but we dont want HTC tot take ages to complete the engine, HTC might just get a license from the Il-2 engine (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)
You know, this looks REALLY cool and some of the suggestions are already implemented...
