Been working on a large 512x512 map.
Have had a couple of weird things happen.
this is a 2 country map with 40 AF's, 6 ports and 6 CV groups per country.
When I was placing CV's the TE would drop one in the list. ( did it twice) Only way I could fix it was to make that number an AF and add another CV number. In this case I made it the token Rook base.
The second thing is... when I go back to base 34 to add shore bat, then try to save it locks the TE and Blows my Oba file.
( made a backup set after having to start all over again)
Seen this before ?
I reinstalled the TE, just to make sure I had no Fubar'd files. It didn't help.

this is a 2 country map with 40 AF's, 6 ports and 6 CV groups per country.
so you mean you have a total of 80 AF's, 12 ports and 12 Cv's for the 2 countries?
you have placed headquarters for all 3 countries?
you have place at least 1 field for the country not in the war?
your total item count is ---------------?
When I was placing CV's the TE would drop one in the list
I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. Do you mean you would lose a CVTG field?
were you adding Maprooms to the CVTG as you placed them 1 at a time?
if not, try doing it.
before adding CVTG did you try doing an error check?
it may be best to hit save after every field placement, I know I've had the editor crash before when placing to much stuff but I never had that many fields.

total Object count "was" 5302.
trying to reduce that amount now.
I have a token Rook base and HQ, have the Bish HQ and country obj's. Now trying to get the Knight country obj's in.
What a pain lol
-
Hawk you need to add a third country...
HQ can only be one building if you want.. but it needs to be somewhere on the map.
Place taskgroups one at a time.. Remember each taskgroup is owned by a port. You must place the taskgroup's maproom somewhere near the port that owns it. Also remember to add some waypoints to the taskgroups.

ok...here's where I'm at....
Have all the Bases , ports, and CV's in place.
Have all the country objects in for the Bish side.(HQ,City, and factories)
Have a token Island with Rook base and HQ.
CV's are all assigned to their port.
When ever I try to add HQ, City, Factory to the Knight side... the TE locks (not responding)
I can however add a base with no problem.
I have trimmed down the objects by 313 units, but that didn't fix the problem either.
All I have left to do is the Knight Country objects and this would be done.

this is ok, the max. limit allowed is 10,000.
When ever I try to add HQ, City, Factory to the Knight side... the TE locks (not responding)
You mean if you run the editor right now and then try to place just 1 Country Group ( like the headquarters - StHdq-S ) the editor freezes? or are you placing several Country Group stuff.
Have you tried just placing 1 Country Group and then hit save. Then place another 1 and hit save, etc... etc..
Have you used any other AirFields or Vehicle Fields than the Standard like AFLrg-S, AFMed-S, AFSml-S, VMed-S
The following fields have errors ( bugs ).
AFDbl-1
AFFwd-1
AFLrg-1
AFMed-1
AFSml-1
drtfield
VFMed-1
I have fixed them but I have nevered placed them in a terrain map.
Have you ever opened up your .oba file with notepad or wordpad. With the number of Fields you have, open it with wordpad and look at the lines that start with "C0", the next number after the "0" should never be higher than 3 because there are only 3 Countries ( 1, 2 & 3 )

It locks if I only place one Item and then try to save.
Have tried it just about every way I can think of and it locks every time.
Will open the OBA file and look at it, see if anything is there.
Just opened the OBA...C01 and C03, no C02 objects or anything else.

Remember to hit build, THIS adds the feilds to your map, Save doesn't do this ( at least not for me) If I were you, I'd open up the map and error check it first,, sounds to me your overlapping feilds or maprooms.

This is what I would do.
1) Open your .oba file
2) Select and copy all the C03.... lines
3) Open a seperate notepad file and paste these copied lines into it. ( don't close the file, just shrink it to the lower task bar )
4) Delete the C03 lines from your .oba file and save.
5) Open the editor and place the Country 2 items.
6) Save when done placing the Country 2 items and close editor.
7) Open the .oba file
8) Bring up the notepad file and select and copy the C03 lines.
9) Paste these copied C03 lines into your .oba file, right after the last C02 line.
10) Close the .oba file while saving.
11) Open up the editor and see how everything is.
P.S I believe Country place items have the same characteristics as Fields, you shouldn't skip the order. Not having any Country 2 items is what I bet is messing things up.
In the Future I would quess that the headquarters be placed for all 3 Countries first. Then you can add the other Country stuff later.

Welp..nothing seems to work
Manually deleted all the country objects, won't let me add any of them back.
I did try your way before going to that extreme.
Zipped the files if you want to look at em, but in the mean time I have start all over again. "They say the 3rd time is the charm.
Real downer to have this happen so close to finishing such a large project:(
The plus side is I learn something from you and Nuttz everytime there is a problem.
Thanks

Sure, I'll look at it. Send it to me at tscott@accesswave.ca
P.S If you want, you could also tell me what Country Group Items you want placed for Country 2 and give me the grid coordinates.

All I need is the .oba file, looking at the .res file won't tell me enough.

Sent email, but thought I would reply here also. You have no field 48

It has A48 Pokie its the rook HQ i opened it and checked . but i opened the game and spawned as a bishop at the base next to A48 "the rook HQ " and this base is not numbered at all !!!!! Could this be the problem ???? a base not numbered ????? you better look at this Hawk
now how i got there is i opened Feild settings and changed "current country to rooks" then back to bishops i didnt clic on save . i all of a sudden spawned to that feild and thats how i noticed this .... i am a bishop at that base right next to A48 which is under rook ownership
so it has A48 with a base right next to it thats unnumbered .
give it alook I could be wrong .

I thought I would post an update just in case people are looking at this post and may have similar problems.
I think Hawk52 has everything under control now.
This was an interesting situation, but useful and adds more info. for the troubleshooting hand book. :)
This particular terrain had 107 fields but no Country Strats ( Country Group Items ) had been placed yet.
When a couple of Country Groups ( or 1 Group ) were placed and then saved nothing would appear to happen and it looked like the Editor had froze up.
The key here was that the mouse still had movement. What was happening was that the Editor was Compiling the information. Now when I tested this .oba file and added the Headquarters for all 3 Countries and a couple of Factories for the 2 main Countries it took about 8 1/2 minutes to Compile this information when I hit save. After that time everthing then came back to normal and more stuff could be added.
It appears that Country Groups should be placed earilier in the construction of your terrain specially if you are going to have alot of Fields.
