went to. I was wondering where everyone flew off to. I've read the pilots list and saw some old names: otto, Monk and a few others..... I hope some of them remember me as I do about them!!! I've been missin' flyin' since I logged off of AW's when it was at EA.. I'd like to try this new place out and see how I like it.
I've downloaded the game but I keep getting an error message about sound.dll not export. I can't figure out what's wrong with it. I'm runnin' a PII 333 with 196 meg ram. My system only has an onboard 3D system so I know I'm pushin' the bottom of the requirements but it should work.
Anyone have any ideas?
Hope to hear from some old flyin' buddies!
Still a mouse pilot for 9+years.....and still Tach 9

What version of DX do you have. Should be DX version 8.1.
But before downloading and installing DX8.1 (if you're on DX 6 or something) you're best off asking about this in the Tech Help forumn. G'luck

You need to have DX8 installed. AH requires that.
System wise, you are pushing it. You have 2 weeks to give it whirl online, so you can decide for yourself if your system can handle it.

Welcome..
You're gonna like this alot more than AW, honestly.
Hurry up and fix your DX, or whatever, and see why.:D

Well I updated my DX from 7.0 to the newest for win98 and I tried to get in....my system sux! What can I do to set everything to the lowest settings so it doesn't overload my system?
I can't even move my mouse hardly.......it takes about 20 seconds to react (cursor).
Let me know......Thanks

What is that onboard 3D-system? That is propably reason to your problems.
If your mobo doesn't have AGP-slot for graphics accelerator you still could use one made for PCI-slot. There are GeForce2 MX and Voodoo 3, 4 and 5 cards for PCI-slots thought they might be hard to find these days and price is little higher.
edit: Here's (http://www.visiontek.com/5332.shtml) one vid-card for mobos with only pci-slots thought I really would take another route with new mobo and cheap AMD Duron CPU.

Honestly, that system ain't gonna cut it...
even if you ran it at 640x480x16bit turning ground clutter off (ctrl-c) reducing the terrain visibility to minimal (shift-f3) and optimizing your system as much as possible, you'll still probably only get 9 fps out of that system.
It's a good time to get a whole new setup, cheaper to build yourself a new system.

Welcome Tach
SW is probably correct. I run a 550 with 8 meg vid card and I cant play above 640x480 16bit.

Just checked from http://www.pricewatch.com :
AMD Duron 800MHz + mobo 80-100$, twenty bucks more and you would go beyond 1GHz.
Geforce2 MX400 32MB 43$, GF2Ti 74$.
You could use other hardware from your old computer (some mobos are still using SDR-RAM like you propably have).
Edit: You might also need ATX-case and power supply, +40$

You can play the 8 player game until your upgrade. There is a lot less eyecandy to deal with.

Midnights your bottleneck is the video card. I've run AcesHigh at 1024x768x16 with my PIII-500 and GeForce2-GTS for a long time without fps problems. But you probably know it very well.

I have a Celeron 233 with 64MB RAM and onboard sound, and get 18-20 fps in dogfights, which is good enough for me. What has saved me though is my 32 MB Savage 4 vid card - without that I would get 3-6 fps. So, a $99 vid card should keep you respectable. The sound seems like a Direct X upgrade thing
