pfffttt...
Suadi Arabia should be "next"...not Iraq.
-
When reading texts like that you should leave your personal feelings out and try to see bigger picture: Is that what common Arab thinks, why are they thinking like that and what kind of threat that is to us (western people).
Replies like that only shows you're soul-mates with the guy who wrote that thought in another side of the barb-wire.

Did you guys read the whole article?
Originally ranted by some Saudi "Journalist"
"Let us say it once and for all: We have nothing against Jews. This is a fact. We have nothing against any people for what they believe or how they believe. Those of us who do are interpreting Muslim scriptures as American fundamentalists are interpreting Christian scriptures. It is hard to believe the Pope, of the Vatican as an institution, endorses Jerry Falwell – just to give one example. But, like the French during Nazi occupation, the Russians against the French occupation, the Americans against the British occupation, we take issue with the occupier. Hence our sense of martyrdom."
I hate to say this, because there is pleanty not to like about the Saudi press, but I didn't find this editorial very offensive or worrisome. This guy obviously ties US and Israeli actions, which I dissagree with. However, when he says that "The US will Dissapear but we will remain" He doesn't appear to be saying that the Saudis will destroy America, but rather, that like the powers that have been in the region before (and he likes to use the Romans, I supsect because of the decadence of Caligula) the US will one day retreat from the region. And if we choose nuclear anihilation for the region, than they will survive because of their faith. My sister happens to agree with this notion, but she's Christain, and calls it Rapture. There are far worse offenses by the Saudi Press.
But that website http://www.memri.org/index.html is pretty badass.

I can't help it....the worms are just too tempting.
I take issue with the term "occupier" being leveled at the West.
Frankly Saudi Arabia could be ruled by Sadaam right now, without those occupiers.

I'm with you on that. In fact, I dissagree with pretty much everything the guy said. (Although I thought the crack about Condi bringing books over from Stanford was kinda funny, and betrayed his American Education) All I'm saying is that the Article didn't strike me as particularly inflamitory, compared to the headline that was used to reference it.

True...no argument here.

When religion is misconstrued and distorted that article is the knidling on a fire. Guys, I have said the following since 9/11, it is going to get a hell of a lot worse, before any positives happen. I sincerely doubt the Saudi Prince has these feelings. A lot of what i have heard out of Saudi, is a bunch of lip service leaning abit towards Palestine, which I completely understand. Think about it for a second, they have to tread water during this because he has to be afraid of attacks (a lot closer to home) on his soil. He's playing the field right now and this idiot "Dr. whatever his name is" will be the one "martyr for some stupid cause"that will be forgotten.
The U.S. would steamroll ANY middle country like Iraq.
Nevermind guys I'll let you say some stuff right now, I'm getting pissed.

Yep but choosing between Sadam or the Saoudian king is a no go situation ... both are scumbags
We (westerner) have choosen the Saoudian and they were supporting Bin Laden ... talk about a wining situation ... :(

But that website http://www.memri.org/index.html is pretty badass.
Memri is run by a member of the Moledet party in Israel.
The Moledet party has as it's central policy the forcefull deportation of all Arabs out of Israel and the West Bank/Gaza, all 3 - 4,000,000 of them.
In other words, it has an agenda.

As opposed to those many many unbiased media outlets :)
But seriously, it's infomation. Take it for what it's worth. As I said, I didn't find the article all that inflamitory. But, in the interest of information sharing, do you have an unbiased, or pro-palestein newsources that provide translations of Arabic media articles?
Lastly, is there any chance we can keep this thread on the topic of the article posted, or even the Middle East media in general? It's a little refreshing to me, compared to how our Middle East threads usually go.

Well, we will eventually withdraw from the region...... just as soon as we get these dang hydrogen fuel cell thingies working real good.
"Oh, yes Abdul! I would most certainly like another serving of Sand Soup! It is the perfect compliment to the Sandy Salad, don't you agree? And most perfect before the main course of Roast Sand! Thank you my friend!"

A group of people with different family names who all have keys to the same apartment and raid the same refrigerator.

Well, the way I see it, what the common people of those countries believe or think is totally irrelevant, as their government system is basically dictatorial and the people are fed propaganda from one side only.
"The way to control a mentat is through false information. False information, false results" applies to this. Its not like in the US or allied nations, where their systems allow each citizen access to both sides of the story (perhaps not completely, but its there). You ever wonder why those arabs you saw on TV cheering the sept11 attacks in the streets..or those who radically supported saddam even after Iraq's defeat.. the list goes on and on... do that? Most probably because they were only fed information that led them to believe in what they were doing.
Countries like Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc, etc are like that. So I say, dont even bother what the people there think, what REALLY matters is what their "big brother" leaders do. The people there have no real say in the government or its policies, so dont bother with them. Go cut the head :)

Saudi Government Daily: "You [the U.S.] Will Vanish, But We Will Remain"

I say we reduce our oil imports and help them replace the lost revenue by helping them produce mass amounts of glass :D

You will vanish, but we will remain… the world will advance to oblivion, but our date palms and our olive trees will survive your nuclear bombs.

Someone teach this guy some basic physics...
I didnt know they had date palms and olive trees in Saudi though, I though all they had was sand, oil and retards wearing sheets. Imagine that, you learn something new every day.

Unfortunetly Staga, it seems about 90% here will never see the big picture as it exists. They are too busy missing the forest for the trees.

So now I'm curious, why did you add that smiley at the end of your post? Do you think that would make it any less insulting?
What if I wrote this:
Staga, you act like a diddlying retard, and your constant siding with terrorists and terrorist sympathizers is disgusting.
Would it be any better if I added a smiley?
