I have "tracers" turned off in my flight settings.
Is there a reason that I still get the tracer when firing the main gun on the Panzer?
Nothing else I fly or drive has tracers when I shoot those guns. This includes the Panzer's other guns, Pintel and Hull gun.
But yet when shooting either the main gun on the Panzer or a short battery or battleship I get tracers. I'm pretty sure you will get tracers on the shore gun and battleship, but I don't know why I get a tracer from the main gun of the Panzer.......?

When you are in a "Gunner" position you will see tracers. When you are in a position that you can fire the weapons but is not a gunners position then you will not see the tracers. Hope this answers your question.

Is the enemy able to see the tracers?

I don't think enemies can see the tracers from 'gun' positions, though I believe friendlies can. This issue came up in the Invasion: Sicily scenario where many of us were shot down by an invisible enemy which turned out to be someone in a mannable ack gun - no tracers were seen by any of us involved.... :)

The only case where turning tracers off is effective is if you are in a fighter.
In ALL other cases the enemy can see your tracers (with the exception of field acks which never show tracers to the enemy)
When in GV's, and bombers the enemy sees your tracers whether you have them turned off or not.(even if u cannot see them yourself)

So, enemy planes can even see my tracers from Osti's etc, even though I can't see the tracers when firing from Osti's etc?
If this is the case, why did HiTech make it to where you (as the driver/gunner) can't see the tracers when firing Osti's etc?
I'm not willing to keep changing my tracer setting every time I go from vehicle to plane and visa versa. Are you SURE planes can see AAA tracers from GV's?
-
I have yet to see an Osty fire and not see the tracers spewing all over the place while flying above.
-
So, basically I'm just hurting myself by not having the tracers "on" when driving an Osti or any other AAA vehicle?
Hmm, I feel another post coming on......"Tracers...Either all on or all off for GV's"
Doesn't make much sense to have them off when in a GV if enemy planes can see them. But makes even less sense to have to have to remember to change back when switching from a plane to a GV and vice versa.
Thanks for all the feedback.

Yes Dano you are hurting yourself, besides how can you see to aim in a GV without em +)

HEHE, said "The hell with it" and turned tracers back on.
I really do like the surprise factor that flying w/o tracers present, but I'm finding myself in GV's alot more lately so I turned them back on.
Thanks for all y'alls help.

Well, BOOT we could start another thread but here goes.
If you recall how I used to fly the A8 in AW?....forget about it! LOL
Flying the A8 in AH requires ALOT more discipline when picking your fights. In AW you had to have some discipline, but with the flight model being like you were turning the plane on a set of rails I could easily get out of 2 or 3 v 1's simply by being able to hold the nose up longer. Another reason was that in AW I was able to stop my roll at a precise position and start to pull back on the stick w/o worring about spinning or stalling. The flight model in AH is MUCH, MUCH different. In AH the A8 will flip over on it's back if you even think about it.
In AH, when they say keep the A8 fast they MEAN keep the A8 fast. That is precisely how I fly the A8 in AH.
One great way to decide when to fly the A8 is to look at the sector markers. If your side looks like they are taking a base and have a pretty good handle on the air superiorty part, then take an A8, keep it fast, and go have some fun :)
If the sector marker is not in your favor then you better know the altitude of the bogys there. I will be prone to taking an A8 if the bogys are low or mostly bombers. If the fight/bogys are high, leave the A8 on the ground for another day. If in this situation you still want to fly the FW, then take the A5 or D9.
Well that's about it for this chapter in the Dano's A8 novel .
