The pointy forward guns are at the top of the engine cowling.

Doh!
Of course, thanks for pointing them out. Nothing in the wings then? How un-American ;) So...er...it's slow but not that deadly then?

SBd's were used for fleet cap and scouting duties

They were quite maneuverable

Excellent excellent, WTG HTC!!!
Can't wait to try out the Dauntless. Why?
It carries bombs and rockets
It is a rugged little thing.
It's the nimblest plane with a tailgun in the game.
It has airbrakes!!!! proper ones.
What we however need in the game is something to help us aim bombs better from a divebomber than other planes. Maybe some kind of indicator (like in aw?).

I read on bigweek that those antenae were for air to surface radar.................

would be neat if the AH dauntless could detect "local" enemy fleets on dar..........

Hey Angus...

For a bomb sight try using Lephturn's sight.  Use the Hashmarks that are at the 45 degree angel for aiming (anything between them shoot) and the little dot on the bottom for bombing and rockets...  works good.

The swinging bombrack was used to make sure that the bomb was dropped away from the prop so it wouldn't hit it after it was dropped.

why does the tail gun just hover?

Post by: Nilsen on May 25, 2002, 11:55:23 AM
It does not hover :) , the mounting device is closer to the barrel that you can see on these images.

Hover technology was not invented in WW2

BTW Tilt. They are not radar.. they are GPS antennas :D
Title: Lephturns Sight
Post by: SkechCAF on May 25, 2002, 12:30:13 PM
Here you go anyone who needs it.....
Lephturns sight

Now I have yet to figure out the top circle and what its use is for...
The 45 Degree hash marks are your Gun sight, anything between it, SHOOT!!
The DOT on the bottom is your Bomb & Rocket Sight.  Drop bombs anywhere abouve a 45 Degree angle, and make sure you are high enough and fast enought to get away from the blast.  For Rockets, make sure you are at least 600- for firing them, they don't have much off a range and they do drop when you fire them.
It takes some practice to get use to it... Hard to use with center fire guns cause the aiming area is some much bigger than what your actualy firing area is.  So it does take some practice...
Enjoy...

AH already models GPS............

Imagine flying by compass alone with no map to tell you where you are...................

can see channel 1 now:cool:
