I need help here... I don't have Dolby 5.1 Surround set up.. instead I use the quad setup powered by a SBLive! with LiveWare3.0 instealled and setup to run EAX games.
AH sounds great, flying over explosions I hear them traverse from front to back. Il-2 and other games sound real good as well...
the problem though is that I've got the first pair (front) running through a stereo with 2 JBL 500s hooked up to it. So I get great deep sound out of those... but behind me I've got 2 sh*tty desktop speakers.
Are there any PC speakers I can buy that would have about the same quality and bass depth as the JBL 500s?
Cheapest in price is best.
Thanks.

ya could get a 3 speaker combo which comes with a sub. Place sub below the desk (sub frequencies are NOT directional anyways) and run long wires to the satellites. You may find more options that way.
I am currently tryin to find an old reciever so i can put some rears in. I use a Monsoon MH1000 set on the desktop. The satellites are awesome but very sensitive to position.

I'm trying to avoid those deals.. mostly because I don't like how audio comes out of those small speakers.
My friend had a Surroudn sound setup with a sub. Sub sounds nice, but the speakers are too high pitched.
Guns firing sounds more like someone dropping change (very noticable when you have two different kinds of speakers... one built for bass, one built for playing the windows wav file ;-)
Anyway, thanks... maybe I can find a cheap ol' stereo and get 2 more JBLs...
Wonder if I could vibrate the whole neighborhood with that setup.

Get the Logitech Z-560
http://www.3dsoundsurge.com for a review.
I have them, they rock. Even better than those expensive Klipsch Promedia
-
Klipsch Promedia are the best PC speakers. They are not cheap though. Promedia 2.1 would fit your requirements I think.
-
the Logitech are four speakers and cost around $140
read the review
the satellites on the promedias are a bit better than the z560, but the sub on the z560 is better than the klipsch.
four speakers beat two.

Promedia 5.1 kicks arnold. Logitech 5uxx0r5

bollock5!
in a dragon ball z style match between both in wish they throw force rays at each other the z560 would win cause its 400 watts constantly, and not in bursts like the promedias
