I know you're a proud pop. Being there at the birth of a new life is hard to describe. Especially when it's yours.
Now, push for the breast feeding. It relieves you of late night duties. :)
-
Congrats!

Have faith....sleep will become a reality again within a year
Money however, that takes a few decades

Congratulations Jarbo :D
Few tips from a fairly new dad:
1. Buy a diaper Genie if you don't have one; not only will it seal off the smell of funky packages but you literally get to make diaper sausage; all the guys in your neighborhood will be envious as you carry your creation to the dumpster.
2. Sleep whenever you can. Lunch. Dinner. Ride the bus to work or carpool, sleep there. Sleep on the throne and in the shower, and ignore hallucinations.
3. Prepare for the possibilty that your wife may develop several hundred undesired personalities over the next year; post-partum depression might be her new worst enemy; just keep her active and happy, and GET HER OUT LOTS.
4. Don't make the mistake of thinking that if you can get through the pregnancy and the first year, you can do anything. Just today, I caught my soon-to-be two-year-old trying to flush herself down the toilet. Your patience will be tested a million times over.
5. Teething. Ah frikken teething.
6. Projectile barf can ruin good electronics. Don't pat her on the back after feeding anywhere near anything that can short circuit, and be especially careful if you have a dog when she pukes; this starts an accelerating circle of barf because the dog eats it, you barf, dog eats it, mom barfs, etc.
8. Notice I skipped seven? That's what happens to your brain after a year or so--get used to that.
9. Best way to put it all in perspective is imagine yourself at 90-years old and how your wife, child/children will say you lived. It's a good feeling; take it in bro :D

Congrats Jarbo.

Thx for the posts. I loved them ALL
.
And since Animal brought it up (sadist in me), whats everyones list of the worst thing to say to the mom after she gets out of the hospital? Cause I am a brand new dad and bound to screw up many times, so every disaster averted is a small victory!
Oh Animal 8x10 Glossys ok ;)? jk

Actions speak louder than words. As you already found out , pregnent moms go threw a chemical imbalance. Be very patient, Help whenever you can and turn the other cheek, soon she will be back to "Normal" an Unexpected hot cup of tea brought to her, taking out the trash without being told has more value than gold. Enjoy your new family member, plan ahead, give your best, your family comes first. whatever you say it will ALWAYS be the wrong thing said:)

P.S. NEVER feed a baby hot chili

Congrats Jarbo
!
Well,..been through 4 of the rugrats (2 girls, 2 boys).
About Mom. Patience is your best friend, keep it close. Do not take much of what she says to heart. She will have mood swings and you just happen to be the closest target.
Even when you try to be nice, it can backfire on you. Best thing I can say here, is never expect her to be happy you did something nice. As a matter of fact, expect her to lash out at you. When she doesn't you are less frustrated.
What worked best for me, was to get my wife up and take her on walks around the neighborhood and parks. Exercise works to get her back to normal faster, but you need to make it sound like you just want to spend some quality time with her.
Most likely she will not want to move around much, but this is exactly what she needs to do. A good ploy is to tell he you want to show off your new family member.
I know it sounds manipulative, but it is in hers, yours and your babys best interest to get out and about. She will start being more normal again once she can get back into her pre-preggy clothes.
Good Luck!

Congrats !!!!!
OMG this reminds me that this gonna happen to me within 8 weeks
:D
Just wondering when did i made it happen

Congrats M8!

Congrats!! Now stand by for loss of sleep, 2 AM feedings and random crying jags during the night. Welcome to parenthood. :)
PS you will soon need the "rules for dating a daughter" to study and prepare for. It's only 12 to 16 years away ya know! :D
-
Congrats, Jarbo. And don't hesitate to take the 2 AM feedings, if Daniele decides not to breast feed. It was, believe it or not, the most precious time for me as a new dad. No one around but you and Baby...nothing to disrupt the quiet joy of holding the precious little girl in your arms. I made this my job/joy for all four of our kids, and it was really special! Damn... got me all teary-eyed! Give our best to Daniele and Gene. The Buccs can always use a new recruit.
